A United passenger whose first-class seat on a recent flight from Houston to D.C. was given to Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee is firing back at the Democratic congresswoman's accusations of racism – while challenging the airline's account of the incident.
Jean-Marie Simon, an attorney and private school teacher, became the latest face of airline passenger woes when she detailed on Facebook and later to the news media how she lost her seat to the Texas lawmaker.
But despite a statement from United seeking to explain the switch-out, she's not giving up the fight. And the congresswoman's response – essentially claiming Simon made a scene because Jackson Lee, as an African-American woman, is an "easy target" – did not calm the waters.
Simon, in an interview with Fox News, rejected the racism allegation.
“That could have been Donald Duck in my seat,” Simon, a Democrat, told Fox News on Thursday. “I could not see who had boarded the flight. I didn’t even know who she was.”
Simon originally accused United of bumping her from her first-class seat on a Dec. 18 flight in order to accommodate the Texas congresswoman.
At first, Simon didn't know who was in her seat as she argued at the gate. United eventually gave her a $500 voucher and reseated her in the economy plus section. In her original Facebook post, Simon said another Texas congressman then informed her a fellow member of the delegation was in her seat, and "regularly does this" to passengers.

The 63-year-old passenger says her beef mostly is with United and how they treated her. She also suggested the airline is trying to age-shame her.
“I’m not some AARP grandmother who doesn’t know how to use a phone,” she said. “I know how to cancel a flight and I did not cancel this flight.”
Sounds an awful lot like I am not some Tammy Wynette at home baking cookies.
Seems democrats cannot resist depicting themselves as victimized groups either age shamed or slut shamed and self elevate themselves by drawing degrading stereotypes of grandmothers who cannot use phones. I cannot stand Sheila Jackson Lee but if she was going to bump someone I cannot think of a more worthy creep to bump. A pox on both their houses

This woman attorney, Georgetown undergrad and Harvard Law is a 60’s era human rights activist, and a photographer of some repute in regards to Guatemala’s regime of that time. In addition she is a photographer of some repute, esp. as regards the torture and murder of Mayan indians— ie. government terror.. the “disappeared”. Seems she’s pretty tough, lib or not— da sheela would have to do a lot to surpass Guatemala’s govt. thugs
Here is a quote from the Amazon book page for her (and she has a review on her book, glowing from the then present day playwright Arthur Miller): “Jean-Marie Simon is consultant to Americas Watch and Amnesty International. Her photographs have appeared in Time, Geo, and many other publications.” So it was natural for her to get a picture of the big mama— she’s taken photos in much more dangerous conditions, and she may have many more influential friends. All da sheela did is show her rather wide load a$$ for what she really is- another machine democrat black bigot politician.
Houston be her peeps— lest we forget the Patti Labelle incident at Houston Intl. when her “bodyguard” beat down a West Point senior year cadet, talking on his cell phone and waiting on his ride pickup— out of the blue. And he LOST his case for damages against this attack, as well as did not graduate with his Class of 2011 at West Point. Such is the politics of the “Houston” hood, pure and simple.
She is an AA queen. We must all bow down before her.
