Maine is having trouble finding enough snowplow drivers, another sign of the way low unemployment is taxing states.
The state Department of Transportation has about 50 openings among about 700 positions and expects 30 snow storms in the season that stretches from mid-November to mid-April. Exacerbating the problem: some cities like Portland hire their own drivers and pay more, and private sector demand for experienced drivers is also high.

And how many Somalis are sitting around doing nothing?
You beat me to it.
It does not, however, have the best work ethic.
Do you really want Somalis driving around in large trucks? That would be like making them police officers and giving them weapons.
My buddy was out plowing for the State last night.
Double double time for working Christmas Eve. Not bad.
L
Yes, and trucks of various sizes have already been used as terror weapons.
I’ve lived in Maine for 25 years.
True, there are some people who are lay-abouts and collect welfare and EBT cards, however, I know of plenty of others who bust their butts logging trees, fishing for lobsters, scallops and other seafood, work in construction, etc. It just depends on the individual.
The first snowfall this year was on Sat., Dec. 9th.....around the time the Army-Navy game began in Philadelphia. Today, on Christmas, it’s been snowing all day, near-blizzard conditions at times.
I grew up on Long Island, NY and they did NOT do a good job plowing the roads when I was a kid. Here in Maine, however, the plow drivers do a good job of clearing away the snow, and they do it promptly. First I’e heard of any snow plow driver shortage.
Yes, some of us only have two jobs, instead of three.
When you are in Maine and there are Illegal Aliens from Guatemala driving snowplows, you know there are problems.
There are no Somalis in my part of Maine (thankfully).
They seem to be concentrated in Lewiston in western Maine and Portland in southern Maine.
Former RAT governor John Baldacci gave generous welfare benefits to the “refugees” and they moved here from other U.S. states. Glad he’s long gone from office.
I felt bad about making my wise-crack as soon as I typed it.
Still, seven years in Kennebec and Washington counties trying to make a living practicing a profession left me jaded.
The natives need to put down bottle, put down the pills, put down the bongs, put down the needles and drive the snowplows.
I didn't live in Maine but I did live in the next state over, New Hampshire, for 14 years. In most cases you have to own your own plow truck and you subcontract it out during the winter. I had my own plow but I only did my driveway and a couple of neighbors. If it was a bad storm I'd have to plow my way to work. I knew lots of people who worked the storms and they all had 4 wheel drive trucks with big engines and 8 foot plows.
An entrepreneurial Somali could start by shoveling, work up to a snow blower then save for a truck but actual professional snowplow drivers would already be working for the road department doing other jobs when it wasn't snowing.
John Baldacci’s may be considering running for governor in 2018. He will be running as a “moderate Democrat” in contrast to “Moonbat” Democrat candidates.
Well, we not only have imported parasites, but also our own home grown variety.
That’s what you can expect from a RAT-welfare state.
(Be glad you have a job, thousands are counting on you)

This is a curious statement to me.
They are commenting in a way on the big drop in unemployment during this 1st year of the Trump administration, however, they are spinning it as bad news.
Low unemployment is making it difficult for the states to find enough snow plow drivers. This is a negative spin, it’s a bad news story, that gee whiz, we have a shortage of plow drivers.
It strikes me that the media will take anything that happens, and spin it in some way to reflect badly on Republicans or Trump, or take any good news, such as low unemployment, and highlight some alleged downside to that good news.,
You mean, he's not a.....faggot-loving, baby-killer?
It’s basically saying we need more illegals.
