I was never in the union but worked years in major construction (Brown and Root, Daniels, Zachry. When Christmas rolled around you always looked for a layoff of certain skill sets. It would had been nice if they would had let these people roll into another skill. But nope, it was a head count eoy thing but it always seemed to happen BEFORE Christmas and not AFTER.
Better to be laid off before Christmas and not spend too much on gifts.
