Things are getting increasingly interesting and simultaneously obvious. Thursday night the Washington Post reported that FBI Director Christopher Wray had relieved FBI Chief Legal Counsel, James Baker, of his responsibilities within the department.
Attorney James Baker accompanied FBI Asst. Director Andy McCabe to the Tuesday congressional hearing with the House Intelligence Community. Curiously, in addition to other lines of inquiry, during the questioning McCabe was asked about whether James Baker was authorized to speak to the media about the Steele Dossier and the underlying counterintelligence operation. Asst. Director McCabe responded that Baker would not be authorized to take such action.
Following the HPSCI hearing, republican committee leadership announced their plan to subpoena James Baker for further questioning. [Keep in mind Baker was there.] Two days later, at the Thursday Judiciary and Oversight Committee hearings, James Baker did not accompany Andrew McCabe. Hours later, James Baker is removed from his responsibilities as legal counsel within the FBI. Cause: unknown.
Back in July, 2017, it was reported that James Baker was under a criminal investigation for leaking classified information from within the FBI, although the details of the leak content were unknown. Politico today reports that James Baker has been identified as the likely source that released information about the Fusion-GPS/Christopher Steele Russian Conspiracy Dossier to David Corn of Mother Jones in October of 2016:

Morning, B3.
4,200’ here in the Bitterroot. 6” overnight with more on the way. Best part is I hired someone to plow this year so let it snow ... he can use the money.
Merry Christmas, FRiend.
That meme is going to get updated like the headline in a newspaper: Daily!
As time has progressed, and the plot details have become evident, it is increasingly clear the entire purpose of creating Special Counsel Robert Muellers probe was not to investigate some nefarious Russian election interference; but rather with a Trump victory the same people who weaponized the FBI and DOJ to conduct the Trump Project needed control. The small group needed a shield or firewall to protect them from sunlight. The Mueller probe is that shield.
Those who are seeking answers to the most critical questions are now running into the officials within the scheme using the Mueller probe as a defensive shield so they do not have to answer investigative questions from congress. This motive is now the primary purpose and benefit of the Mueller probe.
With hindsight it is now clear why the Democrats, the intelligence operatives, and their media allies were so adamant a Special Counsel probe be initiated. They planned to use Muellers investigation as a shield all along.
This purpose is why those behind the Obama administration, the small group plot, the network of co-conspirators and their allies in the media, are demanding the Mueller probe remain untouched.
Bigbob, did you actually read the article? Because it seems rather odd you would post it, considering it throws an ocean of ice water on your odd and incessant theory that Mueller is a good guy, who is actually investigating Hillary and not Trump. Or did you finally throw the towel in on that fantasy? Just asking. Thanks.
were still in the petri dishes of their government offices.
Great metaphor.
This could be exactly right. Rumors are that leaks were allowed left and right when they were damaging to Trump, especially just before and after his inauguration. But now, with the leaks starting to expose the corruption that was and is taking place in the DOJ, they are finally making it a priority to shut them down.
Baker would be a perfect case in point, since he was originally caught leaking sensitive information about the NSA's access to Yahoo mail a year or so ago.
It's also very interesting that James Rosen just announced he is leaving FOX news, just a few days after he released some huge scoops based on leaks.
ODD how those who claim to be part of the 'establishment', and in 'insider', have a recent sign up date and never have any info on their HOME page. So, you claim you are one of the 'establishment' ?
Sessions is a potted plant, useless in point of fact.
The only 'evidence' you base your claim on is your knowledge that political bosses can fire and replace their subordinates. Wow, I never would have guessed.
Trumps entire presidential personnel management has been a disaster.
OH, you are so right. There has never been an executive leader, in politics or private industry, who has had to hire and then fire people, because they didn't perform as expected. Never been an executive who found out some of the hires were only interested in stealing from the company or spying for a competitor. Never has there been an executive who was not perfect and failed to please every single employee and customer the first time and every time. Yep, you are right.
Perhaps we should restrict comments on these matters to those who have actually served in political appointment positions under several Republican administrations.
Other than just bragging, who exactly is 'we' ?
That will keep the blowhards here who have never gone through white house clearance from speculating on political matters they know nothing about.
How old are you, 16 ? You don't seem to have been around long enough to understand 'other people'. You also don't seem to understand that you are insulting the very people you want to convince to join your 'cause'. Not a very intelligent way to influence others.
Yes, but because Sessions didn't go on THE VIEW and personally announce his entire plan to the public, many do not see the 'connection'. But it is coming.
The fact that Sessions announces he WILL investigate Uranium One shows that he has done nothing so far and that he doesnt operate stealthily on it.
The part in bold is just your 'opinion' and not a fact. The fact you say he has done 'nothing' so far only indicates that the public(YOU) doesn't know about what he has done.
The fact that he orders a review on Hezbolah-Obama link just now shows he planned nothing and only acts when events push him to do so.
We don't want someone in that position who 'makes his own plans'. We want someone who does what the job requires. Sure, everyone wants Sessions to be some superhero who magically puts all the corrupt politicians in jail in an instant, but not only would that line of attack fail, but he would have to violate many laws and policies to do so. He could do like the DEMS have done and just go beyond the bounds of his office and make outrageous claims in the media, but is that what we really want ?
Do you understand where this 'drug' stuff that Sessions is investigating is leading 'to' ?
The abundance of low hanging fruit should tell you something. Do you understand how pervasive the corruption is and what it takes to deal with it ?
... and so little apparently being done.
APPARENTLY is the key word. This is not a TV SHOW. The crimes aren't solved in 60 minutes. You aren't fed 'clues' to keep you on track with the script.
If his information threatens the Clintons in any way he will commit suicide even if he does not have belt or necktie. Five shots to the back of his head with a gun he secreted into the cell and then smuggled out after shooting himself.
Indeed timing is right for 2018 elections dems sweating blood.
Many of the career employees are just as bad as Obama’s appointees - especially in the civil rights division. Since they are seriously overstaffed, I was hoping to hear of massive layoffs.
You are quite right. The Sundunce crowd on FR apparently migrated over from Conservative Nuthouse where every non action by sessions is a super secret 3degree plot to capture the enemy. These people are well intentioned hopeful wishers. They are deluded because sessions ordered an inquiry that it means someone will be held to account. Sessions could have done this a year ago had he wanted. He is only doing it now to later announce NO prosecutions. Just like the imaginary 4000 secret indictments sessions has hidden away ready to,produce at just the right minute.
You have to be pretty desperate to believe every nonsensical thing from mark bradman at CTH. The guy sees good news everywhere he looks.
You are truly delusional. Sessions isnt ordering anything beyond what he promised in his last committee meeting in the senate. Nothing will come of it. He could have initiated real investigations over 9 months ago. He didnt. Now why is that?
I know it is hopeful to want to bring the obama clinton scandals to justice but I see no desire on sessions part to do so. His recent public pronouncements are much less than what they appear. He only ordered a new look, not an investigation. Not empaneling any grand jury. He is speaking BUreaiucrateze to do nothing, just like he has done so far.
Quoting Conservative Nuthouse Wishful Thinking chess playing is not a strategy. Notice how mark bradman never writes about anything that goes against his irrational well intentioned theories?
Dont hold your breath
Your analysis is correct but goes against the poorly thought out dreams of the Conservative Nuthouse crowd.
Not to mention blogger speculation posted as ‘News’.
