Well, it looks like Fox News’ Chief Washington Correspondent James Rosen will be leaving the network at the end of the year. There are little details right now, but news of his departure was confirmed on Friday. Rosen joined Fox News in 1999. The veteran reporter gained prominence when the Obama administration came after him for reporting on a leaked story about North Korea in 2013. They tried to charge him as a criminal co-conspirator in the case (via WaPo)
Feds targeted FOX reporter James Rosen
Steven Aftergood, director of the Project on Government Secrecy at the Federation of American Scientists, said, “Asking for information has never been deemed a crime.”
[…]
The case centers on Stephen Jin-Woo Kim, a former State Department arms expert accused of passing details to Rosen from a classified report within hours of its release to a small circle within the intelligence community. Investigators also targeted Rosen, calling him a co-conspirator in an affidavit seeking a search warrant for Rosen’s personal e-mails.
In the affidavit, FBI agent Reginald Reyes said Rosen “asked, solicited and encouraged Mr. Kim to disclose sensitive United States internal documents and intelligence information.” He added, “The reporter did so by employing flattery and playing to Mr. Kim’s vanity and ego.”
That detail particularly irked media lawyers and transparency experts, who said the Justice Department had crossed a line by equating routine reporting practices with possible criminal activity.

Investigators pulled Rosen’s security badge records, phone logs and his personal e-mails, but they never charged him with a crime. No reporter has ever been prosecuted for seeking classified information.

Asswipes
odd this was so fast
His choice or Fox’s?
I’m sure it’ his. He was a good reporter and there’s no way that Fox News would fire him. Maybe he thinks it’s time to move on.
When Major Garrett did it it was for a job in msm.
Probably his choice, maybe has another offer. I always liked Rosen.
Well, maybe he is not happy every new show on Fox is a female anchor. Males dont have a shot lately.
I agree. Reporter is a dead end job at fox news. With all the openings they’ve had, I never heard his name mentioned once.
FBI even tapped his Mom’s phone, the damn creeps! Rosen is one of the good guys. He will land on his feet.
If I recall correctly they were talking about that on Fox News yesterday. I think it was either on Outnumbered or on The Five.
I speculate contract negotiation failed. Runs out at year end. I liked him a lot. I have no idea what he was being paid or worth. I wish him luck. I think he would be good on talk radio.
White House job offer, maybe?
Was this James and Lachlan the Rupert Murdoch sons who are trying to turn Fox into another CNN idea?
I hope he goes to a White House connected job
Boy, how stupid can you get when you allow one helluva reporter go from your network? If James has a better offer and he’s tired of Fox then I wish him the best.

Fox Reporter James Rosen Called Co-Conspirator, Targeted Like AP Scandal
Fox News reporters James is being called a co-conspirator by the Justice Department, which is issuing search warrants while investigating possible leaks of classified information about North Korea in 2009.
As previously reported by The Inquisitr, the Obama Justice Department secretly accessed two months of telephone records of Associated Press reporters and editors according to AP lawyers.
The case began when Fox reporter James Rosen reported intelligence officials warning that North Korea was likely to respond to United Nations sanctions with more nuclear tests. The information allegedly came from Stephen Jin-Woo Kim before many in the State Department even knew of the report.
This AP scandal is already being compared to Fox News reporter James Rosen, who had his telephone calls, State Department visits, and emails seized and scrutinized by the Justice department. Because they suspect State Department security adviser Stephen Jin-Woo Kim of sharing a classified report, they obtained a search warrant for the Fox reporter’s personal emails.
First Amendment lawyer Charles Tobin, who has represented the Associated Press in the past, explains how the Justice department targeting Fox reporter James Rosen affects the free press:
“Search warrants like these have a severe chilling effect on the free flow of important information to the public. That’s a very dangerous road to go down.”
The Justice Department charged Stephen Jin-Woo Kim with violating the Espionage Act for his contact with James Rosen. But then the Justice department went one step further, calling Fox reporter James Rosen a “co-conspirator”:
“Reyes wrote that there was evidence Rosen had broken the law, ‘at the very least, either as an aider, abettor and/or co-conspirator.’ That fact distinguishes his case from the probe of the AP, in which the news organization is not the likely target.”
Fox News is already defending James Rosen against the Justice department:
“We are outraged to learn today that James Rosen was named a criminal co-conspirator for simply doing his job as a reporter. In fact, it is downright chilling. We will unequivocally defend his right to operate as a member of what up until now has always been a free press.”
What do you do you think about the Justice department targeting Fox reporter James Rosen?
James Rosen and Catherine Herridge are the only real jounalists at Fox and just about everywhere else.
I thought they were just retelling that former highlight
He is a liberal. Good riddance.
