MUSKEGON COUNTY, MI - Jeffrey Willis chose not to stay in court to hear his murder victim's family share their grief and anger, but he couldn't escape hearing their words that were repeatedly played for him on his trip to prison.
Muskegon County Sheriff Michael Poulin said he had a compact disc created from recordings of the victim impact statements delivered by Rebekah Bletsch's family in court Monday. He gave the 25-minute CD to two transport officers who played the disc five times in the cruiser that was used to transport Willis to prison Wednesday, Poulin said.
"I don't find it that important that Jeffrey Willis heard what the family had to say, but that the family knew he heard what they said," Poulin said.

I understand why but it could backfire and lead to a hearing that could alter the sentence.

This guy was basically an aspiring serial killer. I doubt he cares not one whit of the suffering he put his victims’ family through.
For those slated for "rehabilitation", the same, except they get video contact with psychologists, teachers, and any identified "remedialists" identified as needed for rehabilitation. Also remedial coursework to address educational deficiencies, with "treats" (i.e. select movies, TV, select email) based on grade performance.
I think like you do. The killer could just as easily get off his victims pain.

My younger brother has spent the last 6 months in an Illinois County jail awaiting trial for some crimes that will most likely put him in a State prison for the next few years.
Right now he’s on a 23 hour a day lock down because, as a fat, middle aged, 50 something white guy, he’s pretty much in mortal danger that one hour he’s not locked away in his cell. When he finally does get to where his knucklehead criminal ass belongs it’ll be the same, only worse. And for a lot longer.
He will end up being a prison bitch for someone just for protection. That’s nothing like any apartment I’ve ever been in.
