ICE approves plan to separate families at border: report

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials have signed off on a plan to separate families who are caught crossing the U.S.-Mexico border illegally, officials close to discussions on the proposal told The New York Times.

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen has final approval power, however, and officials told the newspaper that she has yet to sign off on the plan. The White House favors the proposed policy, the newspaper reported.

Rumors have been circulating for months that the Trump administration may implement such a plan. President Trump has made cracking down on illegal immigration a priority and vowed tougher measures to deter illegal border crossings.

Under the policy being considered, families could be separated, with parents being kept in detention facilities as they await deportation while children would be kept under protective custody at shelters for juveniles or with an approved sponsor.

The measure is among those being considered by Trump administration officials to curb illegal border crossings, especially those involving young children.

Former DHS Secretary John Kelly, who now serves as White House chief of staff, said earlier this year that DHS was considering the policy as a means to discourage whole families from coming into the U.S. illegally, but later backtracked after backlash.

Kelly told Senate Democrats that his policy wasn't intended to separate mothers from their children.

I don't want to see them separate families. I'd rather see them send the entire family back immediately and jail one of the parents if they try again. That's cheaper than paying to support an entire family.

How about detaining the children in Cuba, North Korea, or Albania? That would slow illegal crossings.

Were I to enter this country with my family, I would go with whomever was legal. If all members of my immediate family were not legal to go, then none of us would go.
You
You see, I like to look up the rules and make sure I follow them (just as I do with state borders and guns). If I and all the other families just followed the rules, there would be no splitting of the family. Of course, since I’m the head of the household and it’s my job to keep them safe, I would not risk my family by cheating. Pretty simple, and it puts the onus to play by the rules where it belongs....on the immigrant.

Hey, here is a wacky idea:

How about keeping them together.... In their native land.

Here are my thoughts:

Since entering the US illegally is a Federal crime, and not a state crime, they should be take into federal custody immediately.

Because they came to the USA looking for jobs, they should all be given jobs, with a 1-year work permit.

The men can be sent out to work construction (the Mexicans are good at housebuilding). Building companies can hire these people (through a bidding process), with the money paid directly to the US Treasury Department. (to pay down the national debt). The construction companies would provide housing and food to these workers.

The women can be sent to Nevada. Brothels are legal in Nevada, so the government can subcontract the women to the Brothels. However, these Brothels MUST be licensed. (these people are the responsibility of the government and deserve protection!)

For the children, they should be subcontracted out to farms. Because the children have small hands, they would be good at picking fruit, vegetables ad especially berries (strawberries, raspberries, etc.)

When the year is up, and the work visas expire, they can all be returned (as a family) to Mexico.

This country is simply awful under Donald Trump. Even Jorge Ramos says so. For their sake, I recommend all illegals and their children self-deport and tell everyone back home that their native countries are paradise compared to a MAGAfied America and that they are never to come.

The most important thing is to streamline procedures to reduce the backlog of cases. I don’t even know why there are “cases”. Fingerprint them and send them home immediately - it’s far cheaper to fly them to South America than to deal with a court case and hearings. If they return, separate them and lock them up until their hearing, where they should be deported and banned from ever returning. If they return a third time, ban them from ever again reentering.

Bonus: The US Senate restored the provision allowing illegals to steal our tax dollars through the Earned Income Tax Credit. Deliver those checks in person to everyone claiming the credit who does not have a social security number, arrest them, and deport them. They get the check, but fine them the costs of enforcement, and use that fine to take our money back.
