You would make a good left wing democrat. Profits are the reason for being in business.
You would make a great long jumper. You jumped to that conclusion from ten miles away. I’m as far away from a left wing Democrat as one can be and having run a company of my own successfully for twenty years before retiring I am WELL aware of the reason for being in business but I am also aware that some companies will do almost anything imaginable to avoid paying a decent wage, including raising the entry pay when they have to because they can’t find new hires who will accept their rate and failing to bring old hires up to the new rate. I’m all for pay based on merit, more productive people should definitely be paid more than those who are less productive but if your old hire is not even worth the new entry level pay you need to discharge him. Also I have seen too many instances of people finding a new job because their employer is stingy with money and then the company goes out and hires a replacement who, regardless of experience or qualifications, knows nothing about that company and will require a “break in” period, at a much higher rate than they would have had to pay to keep the old employee. I have seen it many times and I consider it to be a bad way to manage.
Well said and correct. Seen it first hand myself.
