The United Nations General Assembly overwhelmingly backed a measure critical of President Donald Trumps decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel despite U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haleys warning that the move could put funding for their nations and the global body at risk.
The nonbinding UN resolution passed on Thursday by a vote of 128-9, with 35 nations abstaining. Key U.S. allies backing the measure over Trumps threats included the U.K., France, Italy, Japan and Germany. The U.S. was joined in opposition by countries including Guatemala, Nauru and Micronesia. Abstentions included Australia, Canada and Argentina.
The United States will remember this day when it was singled out for attack in the General Assembly, Haley said at the U.N. podium ahead of the vote. We will remember it when so many countries come calling on us, as they often do, to pay even more. This vote will be remembered.

We were all asked to vote no or face the consequences, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said before Thursdays vote. Some even threatened to cut development aid. This is bullying. It is unethical to think that the votes and dignity of member states are for sale.

THIS! Sadly, even with live wire Trump in office, I just don’t see a genuine follow through on this one. Why? Because literally EVERY shift in policy Trump has announced had required a stinking COURT BATTLE to implement - even when those policy shifts were actually based on EXISTING law/legislation!
What I find amazingly hypocritical - the Left that has already begun mentioning that many of the “aid” being paid out to nations around the world from US Taxpayers - is written in law, so Trump “can’t” cut funding.
Wait - these are the same Leftists who supported Obama as he unilaterally IGNORED law to bring about his own agenda... hmmmm....
Kudos to the countries the voted with the US. Some abstained for various reasons. Those that voted against can go to Hell.
Move the U.S. bases in Western Europe to Poland.
I think MSN is fibbing again.
I heard this afternoon that a 2/3 vote was NOT reached.
The nay votes, abstainers and absentees kept the vote below 60%.
Just start reducing/eliminating US foreign aid to all of the “enemy” countries. Use the money to secure our border and expel illegals, including VISA overstays.
Get our bases out of Japan.

I disagree on that. The US needs a presence in that area of the world, in addition to South Korea, Guam, etc. I think that without our presence in those areas they would quickly be taken over by our potential/real enemies.
