“. I ruptured a disc in my lower back many years ago when struggling with a coupler on a tractor disc, took a few ibuprofen for a time and slept on the floor for a week or so. It eventually cleared up but the ibuprofen had little effect.”

Lemme get this straight. You ruptured a disc in your back and sleeping on the floor and taking ibuprofen it “cleared up” in a week or so? You either

1. didn’t have a ruptured disc.

2. found a miracle cure for ruptured discs.

I think you meant to say you had a herniated disc. Those can heal.

A ruptured disc can heal like a popped balloon can re-inflate.

I’m relaying what was later revealed with a radiograph. The rupture itself was quite audible and memorable. An event that I haven’t forgotten. Many people, especially farmers and other manual laborers rupture discs and never opt for surgery. Let’s keep in mind that back surgeons are a relatively new type of surgeon.
