I wondered if the 2018 date had anything to do with pension benefits He's already vested for pension. January 3rd the House and Senate get gaveled into session. He resigning the day before, probably to let Smith start the session as a Senator.

Maybe he'll be like Charlie X "I want to stay, stay, stay.."

Luckily... while translucent he still casts a shadow. Man that Roddenberry was clever.

I think he picks up another years worth of pension credit by resigning in 2018. Probably not. He wasn't sworn in as senator on January 3rd, 2009. He wasn't sworn in until June or July, once all the challenges had run out. January 2nd isn't any kind of anniversary date for him.
To: MeganC
There seem to be some rumors that the Minn. Governator has already accomplished that.

I think the Congress convenes on Jan. 3, 2018, so that date was chosen. JMO

So if I’m a government employee and I start on December 31, 2017 then am I vested for pension on January 1, 2022 or December 31, 2022?

The Clown Prince of the US Senate has a date certain to depart? The Governor of Minnesota, and the entire Minnesota Democrat delegation to the US Congress must have brought some really bruising pressure.
Tina Smith has all the requisite qualifications called for as the replacement of Al Gropen, er, Franken as Senator - she is believed to have a vagina. As far as her personal belief system goes, she is a more rabid and doctrinaire ideologue than even Dianne Feinstein or Kamala Harris, and probably greatly surpasses even Amy Klobuchar, who after all, had to actually be elected.
This should put everyone in good standing with the Somalian constituents in Minnesota.
And Garrison Keillor. Lake Woebegone shall be well represented.

Hey, where are all those people on here who declared he did not resign and would never resign? ☺
They seem as rare of public pay phones.

As long as we’re betting, what do you suppose the odds are that he will be rehabilitated, and he and Jill Stein will run for the White House?
