“”Amtrak President and CEO Richard Anderson said the NTSB investigation will determine whether positive train control would have prevented the crash.””

Lots of attempts to divert attention from gross incompetence or negligence on the part of Amtrak employees by constantly raising the ‘positive train control’ card.

The public needs to be asking questions like: “Exactly, how many locations between Seattle and Portland require the engineer to slow down or sound the whistle?”

This accident was another example of gross incompetence by government workers and managers.

Exactly. The railroads ran trains just as fast and faster in the 1920’s with steam locomotives and avoided such accidents simply by having the crews maintain proper, basic operating precautions.
