Even if the above is true, the whole thing could have been Kabuki Theater to make it look as if Gorsuch would be a McCain style "maverick" who secretly does not like Trump, while Trump is heard to bemoan ever picking Gorsuch in the first place; thus making the Gorsuch pick more appealing to 'rats and Never-Trumpers.
On Sunday morning, I briefly tuned into the CBS newsmagazine show and saw an ad for the new Meryl Streep/Tom Hanks movie “The Post”. I guess they are putting out dramatized nonsense like this about the era that these people can never ever seem to get over (Johnson, Nixon, Vietnam, etc) largely because their credibility among most reasonable and thinking people is that low nowadays because of instances like this one. And they need to sanctimoniously remind us about their duty to the public, give me strength big time.
