Former acting Attorney General Sally Yates implored the public to embrace American core values of freedom and justice or run the risk of letting an unnamed force at hand potentially ruin what makes America unique. She also called on Washington and the public to remember the lessons of Watergate and honor the rule of law.
"Over the course of our nations history, we have faced inflection points times when we had to decide who we are as a country and what we stand for. Now is such a time. Beyond policy disagreements and partisan gamesmanship, there is something much more fundamental hanging in the balance. Will we remain faithful to our countrys core values?" Yates wrote in an op-ed Tuesday.
Yates, who President Trump fired at the beginning of the year after she said the Justice
Department opposed his administration's travel ban executive order, warned of people who believe they are above the rule of law. She did not name Trump in the piece.
"This concept of equal protection recognizes that our countrys strength comes from honoring, not weaponizing, the diversity that springs from being a nation of Native Americans and immigrants of different races, religions and nationalities," Yates said.
Yates also pointed to the handling of Watergate as an example of how an administration surrendered to the rule of law when it was at fault, a hint that she is unhappy with the Trump administration's handling of multiple probes into Russia.
"This wall of separation is what ensures the public can have confidence that the criminal process is not being used as a sword to go after ones political enemies or as a shield to protect those in power. Its what separates us from an autocracy," she wrote.
Finally, Yates warned against political arguments that are steeped in "emotion and fear through polarizing rhetoric and fabrications."
She added that although the public cannot control what lawmakers preach, they can hold elected officials accountable for their words.
"So stand up. Speak out. Our country needs all of us to raise our collective voices in support of our democratic ideals and institutions. That is what we stand for. That is who we are. And with a shared commitment to our founding principles, that is who we will remain," she finished.
Sally keep a low profile because your name keeps coming up.
But like Sally, only honor the laws you personally agree with...
300 million individual interpretations can only be a good thing ...

Sally Bates Motel should shut the front door. She’s irrelevant.
I strongly suspect she means “rule of liberals”.
...I'm sure that represents "Soros core values"(and plans for destruction)very well, however.
This bureaucrat bigot thinks diversity is more important than unity, proving that she is a brainwashed Leftist. We are the UNITED States of America, not the DIVERSE States of America, something the universities are not teaching, obviously. “A house divided shall not stand.”
Yates’s conception of the “Rule of Law” is different from, say, Reagan’s conception. To a liberal the Rule of Law is subservience to a constantly changing - er, improving- of Regulations made by Public Servants or just whatever the the liberal thinks is good-for-this-instance.
When the left runs scared they start projecting their behavior onto their opponents.
Yates fears getting caught and is looking for cover, that's all.
Sally is so puffed up with herself. Does anyone really give a hoot what she has to say about anything? The arrogance of these crooks is unbelievable.
One of those sealed indictments might have her name on it. That would rich. She has to be a co-conspirator.
“Rule of Law” to Yates means whatever Dems say goes.
The Rule of Law to you and I means equal justice for all. Rich, powerful, poor all are subject to the same laws applied with equal vigor or lack thereof.
The Rule of Law to liberals means you agree with them and that is the law. If you dont agree with them, then you are illegal. Any and every means, especially the selective enforcement of the laws de jour via political prosecution, the use of government agencies such FBI and IRS are all fair game to destroy those who are illegal. Any resistance thereto is thwarting the rule of law. If you agree with them, on the other hand, then you have absolute immunity.
In short, the rule of law=rule of tyranny.
I for one have no intention of allowing the left to bastardize yet another concept of our freedom and spout it as if they care about it or believe in it.
Sour grapes much Sally?
Wow, the noose must be tightening, look at the Liberals panicking, check out the most recent tweets or interviews by Eric Holder, Mike Morrell, Sally Yates, Clapper, and Comey. Each of them understands they are about to be identified as conspirators, and enemies of the State.
Another defunct functionary raging against her own accelerating descent into obscurity.
Thats rich...
When Elections don’t go your way, overturn them by any means necessary and account it to “the rule of law”. Got it.
Rank hypocrisy for any member of the Soetoro administration to make a statement like that.
You refused saying it was illegal!!!!!!
Supreme Court agreed with Trump
Lady you don't know the Law
