I am certain based on historical ethics behavior within the State, CIA, DOJ, and the like, that many people were getting very rich to play the middle.

Great link, thank you.

"...Former Obama administration officials declined to comment on individual cases, but noted that the State Department condemned the Czech decision not to hand over Fayad. Several of them, speaking on condition of anonymity, said they were guided by broader policy objectives, including de-escalating the conflict with Iran, curbing its nuclear weapons program and freeing at least four American prisoners held by Tehran, and that some law enforcement efforts were undoubtedly constrained by those concerns..."

This is the "Well, our efforts to promote moderates in Hezbollah were complicated, and we didn't want people getting in our way" defense.

"Moderates" in Hezbollah? Really? Really, really? I would like to ask "Good God, who did they think they were dealing with that might have moderate members in it, the local Kiwanis?" The Hezbollah organization is, by definition, extreme, you have to be committed extremists to even get in the front door there. There are no such thing as moderates in Hezbollah. What a bunch of blithering idiots.

Additionally, some people (even on FR) think Putin walks on water and is some kind of good guy, but he was putting extreme pressure on the Czechs not to extradite this guy Fayad. People would be advised to keep in mind what Putin did before he rocketed to the top of the political scene...He was a KGB thug in the Soviet Union. His actions here are simply in line with his political life and upbringing.
