What Republicans need to do is sit down and read Rules for Radicals. Then they need to read The Art of War. Then they need to study clips of Lee Atwater and call Bannon for advice.
Because that's the only way that they're going to defeat the Democrats. The next crop of Republican candidates need to have Bannon on speed-dial and need to do the following:
(1) No interviews to national news orgs like CNN, MSNBC, and even Fox News. Only give interviews to local/state stations.
(2) Stay on offense. Take your opponents' greatest strength (gay rights or equal pay for example) and turn it into their weakness. Lay out the facts on why they're wrong and you're right.
(3) Never, ever apologize or hold groveling press conferences if you're accused of something you did decades ago. Strongly deny it, call it bulls--t even, and then move on. That's partly what sank Moore. He held press conferences denying the allegations; meanwhile Jones was free to criss-cross the state and campaign.
(4) None of this "Work with Democrats" or "Reach across the aisle" crapola. Lay out a conservative, populist vision for America and your state and stand your ground.
(5) Be politically-incorrect. Don't adopt the Left's language. Don't accept their premise.
And Mark would probably rejoice, because just as Mark wrote a depressing book called America Alone, at least he now knows it's not Mark Steyn alone. He's got another happy warrior fighting alongside him.
As for Kurt being wrong in this piece, I don't think so. Kurt is warning us that the libs will be ruthless in 2018, so we need to be ruthless, too. Not just against the libs, but with ourselves, too.
To win, we have to be as ruthless as Trump is. Look at how many ruthless firings Trump made in his campaign. He made the moves, and he got results. Because Trump was ruthless. We conservatives need to be the same in 2018.
That is what Kurt is pounding the table with in this piece.
That is a a very tall order but it is the only winner.
