40,000 messages over 14 months. That’s almost 100 messages/day. Help me out here, is that typical these days?
I think they have to include incoming spam messages too case I cant figure out how they do it.

No, I dont think it typical in that age group to have so few messages/texts per day. /not really sarc but maybe sort of
My 17-year-old is texting her boyfriend practically all day. 100 messages seems reasonable, keeping in mind that many of them are: LOL. K. WYD. (What you doing?) and other barely verbal drivel.
And you wonder why teen aged girls are such horrifying drivers?
It's either text, or drive. If they do not, instantly, answer a text, their brain explodes.
The controlling a moving car thing will have to wait...

The above link claims an average of 3853 texts per month for adults in the U.S. who are 18-24. That would be about 54,000 texts over 14 months. So, maybe her text volume is lower than is typical.
I was wondering the same thing.....................
I think I read here a few days ago:
Teen girls average about 4400 texts a month, and teen boys about 2500. This is about 2850/month.
