The Republican Congress is to be congratulated on the business tax reformation.
On the personal income tax side, color me unimpressed. This reform only reinforces that at the national level, there is no real difference in tax policy between the two parties, it is only a matter of degree.
A graduated income tax is straight from the Communist Manifesto; all the Republicans did was tweak the brackets and the bracket rates, keeping the pernicious central concept intact. They also increased the person exemptions, meaning more people will pay no tax while still voting on how much the upper brackets will pay; this is immoral because it violates the concept of equal treatment under the law.
I could go on; real reform will be a flat tax where everyone pays at the same rate. When everyone has to reach onto their pocket and pay the same amount on each buck they earn, then you will see the Fed govt. rapidly shrink to its rightful and sustainable size.
Which is why your suggestion (though absolutely the RIGHT thing to do) will NEVER happen...
