I dated one gal, ALWAYS complained about a certain individual and situation at work.
One day she was in rare form. REALLY mad.
So after a few minutes (10-15) of letting her vent, I made a smart ass comment, to lighten the situation.
(It's what I do)
(I have a lot of experience at it)
(I'm extremely good at it)
(And I LIKE IT)
Well she went off like a thermonuclear bomb.
Her: "Why are you making jokes? I'm angry"
Me: "That's why I'm making jokes. To lighten your mood."
Her: "Don't make jokes. I WANT to be angry"
Me: "Great... You want to be angry? ... Call one of your girlfriends! ... You want to be in a good mood, then call me."
(At which point I hung up and didn't answer her calls for the rest of the night)
(I had seen some negative things with her, before that, but that opened my eyes to what I truly was in for. We went out maybe once after, then I BOLTED.)
Years ago, I saw a poster that said:
"Everybody brings joy into a room.
Some when they enter.
Others when they leave."
I TRY to bring joy with me, wherever I go.
I definitely don't want to hang around someone who constantly has a black cloud over their head.
For thos of you who’ve never seen it this you tube is appropriate to this thread and funny.

That is a good lesson to remember
