Comey edits revealed: Remarks on Clinton probe were watered down, documents show

Newly released documents obtained by Fox News reveal that then-FBI Director James Comey’s draft statement on the Hillary Clinton email probe was edited numerous times before his public announcement, in ways that seemed to water down the bureau’s findings considerably.

Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, sent a letter to the FBI on Thursday that shows the multiple edits to Comey’s highly scrutinized statement.

In an early draft, Comey said it was “reasonably likely” that “hostile actors” gained access to then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s private email account. That was changed later to say the scenario was merely “possible.”

Another edit showed language was changed to describe the actions of Clinton and her colleagues as “extremely careless” as opposed to “grossly negligent.” This is a key legal distinction.

This is just downright scary. It makes Watergate look like small potatoes.

When will we see an acknowledgement that Comey may have held the title, but another, in reality, was the so-called director?

This “soft coup” is at least 1,000 times Watergate, but no liberal press corps person wants to win a Pulitzer by putting HRC and/or BHO behind bars. Not one honest presstitute in the whole gaggle of them. Not one.

Nixon would have been horrified at the weaponization of the IRS, FBI, DHS, ICE, etc. Not that he didn’t think of it first, but that he could never get it down pat.

They obviously figured she would win and no one would ever know.

What they probably didn’t figure is that Trump would win, every one would know, and our useless Government would turn around and ignore it because, you know, dealing with traitors is a lot of work.

The FBI has become an arm of the DNC....just like the IRS and Loi Lerner.

BTW, Lois is still laughing at us while spending her $102, 600 a year pension that we're paying for.

Let’s hear no more cr*p about how we don’t go after political loser-opponents in this country - she should be gone after and jailed because the FBI’s investigation showed that she did indeed mishandle classified documents in a grossly negligent manner - and then let’s go after those who subverted that investigation.....

Indeed. Watergate was about a cover up of a botched burglary and the ensuing effort to obstruct justice. Obama Spygate is about a sitting administration assisting it’s party’s nominee to effect the outcome of a presidential election, then trying to find a crime to remove the duly elected president.

Bret Baer reported last year that US intelligence sources told Fox News that it was virtually certain at least five foreign intelligence agencies penetrated Hillary’s off-the-books IT system she set up as Secretary of State.

Alan Dershowitz has been on Fox News frequently recently for the purpose of arguing Hillary’s case, that it would be “criminalizing politics” to hold her accountable.

His reasoning in trying to protect Hillary would lead to the conclusion that politicans and high government officials are beyond the reach of our criminal laws.

It’s disappointing that so much of the reporting on this has been lulled into the red herring pushed by Comey and now Dershowitz that the question was whether someone should be prosecuted for being merely grossly negligent or its synonym, extremely careless.

But this was NOT a negligence case. Hillary KNOWINGLY set up the off-the-books IT system. Hillary KNOWINGLY as a matter of standard procedure ran her emails as Secretary of State through this private system.

And Hillary KNOWINGLY ran classified information through it. She might be able to plead ignorance the first time or maybe the second time. But not the fiftieth time or the hundredth time.

It’s like someone parking her car in a parking space and knocking over a nearby motorcycle customarily parked there. The first time she runs over the motorcycle, she might say get away with claiming she was merely careless. BUT NOT THE HUNDREDTH TIME!

No reasonable jury could believe she did not know what classified information consists of and that she knew she was running it through her system so many times.

An interesting point you bring up. If Hillary’s machine had not blown up the Trump-Russia “collusion” tale, a causation for hysterics at FBI/Justice Department, you make me now wonder if we really *would* have ever known.

As you said... “dealing with traitors is a lot of work”.

I was in the process of writing something similar to what you said. Comey was drawing the paycheck of Director, but allowed underlings to make his decisions for him. What a pussy. No wonder he tried to hide in the curtains so President Trump wouldn't see him.
