Subway has a good product. I would order more often if they had drive thrus, but so many of them don’t.

Not having drive thru windows was their first flaw. That turned me off even back when they had a decent product.

We live in podunkville so have only 3 fast food joints. Two are burgers places that have drive thru windows. Then there’s Subway. Hardly any cars are parked at the Subway where there’s a line at the places with a drive thru. That’s the reason for “fast” food. No one wants to park, get out, go in and stand around waiting for their food.

We hadn’t been in years but decided to try them for something different and because of a 2 for 1 coupon. Pitiful. Totally tasteless. Couldn’t taste the cheese or the beef or the Sweet Onion sauce. The Oat Bread also had no taste. The veggies tasted old and very chemically. Didn’t finish it. Nope. Never again.

There is a Subway I drive by often, and I don’t know how it survives. There is usually no one there, except an employee or 2, even at lunch or supper time. This on a busy highway, in town, with easy access (just turn off the highway into the parking lot.)

This one does have a drive-thru.

Being on the run so much, and tiring of Whoppers*, and with not many other options (McDonalds - UGH!), I gave it (this Subway) a try a couple weeks ago, a $3.50 Turkey Breast half-sub-of-the-day. At least in this case, the taste was fine (not great, but ok), and the ingredients fresh, but the sandwich and amount of meat was smallish. I suspect a full size made-to-order sandwich over at the Kroger Deli would be a better deal, tho’ it’d also take several more minutes to get, all said and done. I do like this Subway’s posting of a little basic nutritional info. at the drive-up.

All in all, I’d rate the Subway sub “ok” if I’m in a hurry, but if I’m really hungry & on the run, it’s gonna be a “coupon” Whopper plus the apple, grapes, and mini-carrots I usually have with me in a small cooler, and some water.

*Oddly enough, if you look at BK’s nutritional info., a Whopper, less the pickles (to reduce sodium content a bit), is one of the least harmful things on the BK menu.
