I'm OK I never considered it. But some meds I should have never been prescribed had me point my index finger to my head back in 1994. My auditory/Optic sensory processing system is bad. When it went full blown so did PTSD brought on from a series of events in a few years tieme starting in 1985. The unexpected death of my first wife age 24, then afterward meeting someone I got serious about and she went quad on a date, becoming a dad, caregiver, and nearly loosing her several times especially early on, youngest daughter in a wreck I arrived on scene as they were covering her body to cut her out but I thought the worst. Then being in a wreck where I was rear ended and I thought a baby died. It didn't. Then right after that my health issues hit.
I got help a darn good therapist got me through PTSD in a few years and a doctor who finally listened when others wouldn't figured out what was going on and stopped all antidepressants and started me on low but full time in bloodstream Xanax. From 1994 when I retired at 37 to 2015 I healed PTSD wise.
2015 things happened again as such is life. Within a month my only sibling, my wife, and an aunt I was close too, all passed. I was OK it took time. We'd been married almost 30 years.
This past February I got a call from EMS they had my Mom in the ambulance headed to a Stroke Center Hospital. Doc in ER said 50/50 chance of surviving bad bleeder. Over the next month she went into rapid Dementia and after 5 weeks came to my house and I cared for her till she passed in April. Then in October I had a wreck which every once in a while likes to replay itself in my mind. No one hurt in the wreck but a trigger none the less. PTSD to some is like having to relive having bad events replayed to you like a horror film.
Add to that some events I am not at legal liberty to talk about except in vague unidentifiable ways Yeap I've been around the block a few times. LOL.
I'm OK but I do understand PTSD many have a lot of misconceptions. It seems the preacher had it 16 years. None of us know what he was living through. His note read more like someone who had simply endured more than they could withstand and wanted out than someone who was ever out to hurt anyone. His pain evidently went in silence and unnoticed and he fell through the cracks. A sad ending.
