Conservative commentator Tammy Bruce, in a discussion about Alabama Republican candidate for Senate Roy Moore, said the Republican establishment want the party to lose the majority in the Senate so the Trump agenda fails. Bruce cited Sen. Richard Shelby (R-AL), who announced he did not vote for Moore, and Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ), who donated to the Democratic candidate Doug Jones, as examples.
"This is a test for the president," Bruce said Tuesday on FOX News' Hannity. "I think what you've seen with Shelby going against it. Jeff Flake, giving money to this guy. I think the Republicans in the Senate want to lose the Senate. I think they want the president's agenda to fail and the only way to really achieve that is to suddenly become the minority."

We first dragged them into the majority in 1994, kicking and screaming.
Before then, they were happily ensconced in the minority power role for over 40 years.
Remember they even “power-shared” with the Dems about 15 years ago. Then, when the Dems took the majority in 2007,
they kicked the GOP in the nuts and locked them out of committee rooms.
So we gave the GOP the House in 2011, and the Senate in 2015, where they proceeded to do NOTHING for us.
We gave them the Presidency in 2017, but it wasn’t Mr. Low Energy, so they have been pulling a tantrum ever since.
THEY WOULD GLADLY TRADE THEIR MAJORITY STATUS TO GET RID OF TRUMP.
This is all about staying in DC—they don’t give flip about you or me.
We have had 28 years of such treachery.
Enough.
Maybe, but the Alabama election is not indicutive of this. The reality is Moore was a lousy candidate and would have branded the entire R party as child molesters, true or not. In this case losing might be winning.
In the words of Michelle Tanner..DUH!!!! The GOP never really wants to be in charge, that would involve them having to do stuff..they’d rather have the Democrats in charge and then b*tch behind the scenes about it, scream how they can do better if they were in charge, but once they get the chance they do NOTHING. And besides, these GOP Elitists DESPISE and I mean DESPISE President Trump, they want him to fail BADLY and laugh at our expense
And even so, maybe still start a different party. They want power more than they want to do what we tell them to do... therefore, we take their power from them. Period.
These people need to fear us.
I think that’s EXACTLY what they want. Pray without ceasing. It’s always darkest before the dawn.
if McConnell stays as GOP ‘leader’ then frankly they may as well just turn it all over to Senator Schumer and company.
I disagree with most of Chuck’s politics but hes at least competent and we’re not getting what we voted for anyway
McConnell has had a major opportunity to go down in American history as a great political leader...doing some much-needed important things....but he seems to just rubber-stamp or enable or at least let happen most of the far left D platform, it is most discouraging
Is there ANY R in Senate who maybe could take over McConnells job and hopefully do a lot better?
Yup, exactly. They want illegals here as much as the Dems.
“I have a greater chance of one day attending an NFL game or buying anything from Target, than I ever do of giving money to the Republican Party.”
We are there and have been for years, except the NFL. We stopped watching them when the Colin Cancer took over the Former Niners.
We have contributed monthly to Trump’s campaign funds since early in 2016.
Thanks for that. Very informative. :D
And here I thought you were raising the issue of money. I recently read an article that claimed the average annual net worth increase for a House member was $1MM; Senators increased by $1.6MM. Other than their nightly scrounging for $500 bottles of wine and $200 entrees on a lobbyist's tab, I believe their full attention is devoted to managing their portfolio.
As an aside, I almost expect McTurtle to suggest a Limp Wrist Frist power sharing arrangement with Schumer after the Alabama rat is sworn in.
This is a thesis that fits the observable data.
The Republicans are going to lose my generation... most of my friends are independent...
Shes’ right.
I’ve called the Kamikaze Republicans.
Willing to sacrifice everything, including themselves, to stop Trump.
Exactly.
And they took a step in that direction last night.
They sure don’t seem interested in doing what’s best for America.
I’ve been saying much the same for several months now.
Yup. Not too hard to figure out that “losing” is a win for the gop wing of the uniparty.
