I agree with almost all of your post, except the first half of the following: "The GOPe just made a very big mistake. It will cost our cause dearly."

What has happened will cost us dearly, but the GOPe didn't make a mistake. They worked hard to make sure that Moore lost. They are a wing of the Uniparty and would be much happier being the token opposition to actually representing the GOP voting base. Mitch McConnell would be very comfortable being the Minority Leader rather than having to fight for conservative principals.
