Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) signaled on Tuesday that the winner of the Alabama Senate special election will not be sworn in before the Senate wraps up its work for the year.
"Sen. Strange is going to be here through the end of this session," McConnell told reporters, referring to Sen. Luther Strange (R-Ala.), when asked about the Senate race's impact on the timeline for tax reform.
Senators want to wrap up their work for the year next week, which would mean McConnell would be able to depend on Strange's vote on tax reform and funding the government.

“A few years after 9/11”
The senate seated an America-hating ILLEGAL ALIEN named Barack Hussein Osama a few years after 9/11. Contrast that with McTurtle’s threats to not seat Moore.
What part of that factual statement do you not understand?
What the hell? I explained the process of Obama getting elected. He was NOT sworn in right after the election. He was sworn in with the rest of the Senators in January 2005. What is so hard to understand?????????
Oh, that’s right...you went to bat for Obola during the debates on his eligibility. Never mind.
What kind of medication are you on?
I should ask you the same thing. You are either ignorant or dumb. You are so clueless on how the Senate works that it makes me pity you. I don’t want to jump all over you because I fear your IQ is low. So I will give you a pass because you are clearly dumb. Have a good day.
Take a hike, goron.
They fear Moore more than the rat.
No, they fear the GOP base more than the rat.
My ever hopeful mind played a trick on me when I glanced at the title! I thought it was a quote from turtle stating how strange it is for him to be in the senate! Lol
He runs the Senate. He controls what is done when
“I think that is normal.”
After looking at the State certification process, I would agree that some time will necessarily elapse, particularly since the seat is occupied by Strange. I was just wondering out loud where Bitch would get the authority to say what he did.
Amendment 17 - Senators Elected by Popular Vote. Ratified 4/8/1913.I dont see where the preference of the majority leader of the Senate, or the whole Senate itself unanimously, has any say after Alabama declares a winner in todays election. It appears that the end of the election is the beginning of the senators term. The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, elected by the people thereof, for six years; and each Senator shall have one vote. The electors in each State shall have the qualifications requisite for electors of the most numerous branch of the State legislatures. When vacancies happen in the representation of any State in the Senate, the executive authority of such State shall issue writs of election to fill such vacancies: Provided, That the legislature of any State may empower the executive thereof to make temporary appointments until the people fill the vacancies by election as the legislature may direct.
This amendment shall not be so construed as to affect the election or term of any Senator chosen before it becomes valid as part of the Constitution.
Clearly if the Democrat were to prevail, trying to count a vote by Senator Strange after the election result were known would create a cause célèbre.
Is this a sign that the fix is in for Jones?
“He runs the Senate. He controls what is done when”
Cite?
The results - per FNC - are in for Jones. My point stands - Jones will get his election certified, and he will be the junior senator from Alabama at that moment. And Mr. Strange will be ex-Senator Strange. You know the Democrats will have it no other way.
Aaaaand - it now looks like Trump’s instincts were right when he backed Strange....
