From what I understand, it’s not too difficult to slap a laptop onto a HAM rig and encrypt stuff. A couple thousand, and you have near global, secret communication, though I bet the repeaters are monitored.

From what I understand, its not too difficult to slap a laptop onto a HAM rig and encrypt stuff. It would be incredibly stupid to do it. First, encrypted signals are prohibited and second, it's not impossible to triangulate where the source of the transmissions are coming from.
