I read someplace last week (may have been here on FR) that hundreds of years ago the Injuns, er Native Americans I mean, abandoned So. Cali because of the unpredictable fires, dryness, and such. They liked No. Cali and the Pacific NW because there was enough rain that things grew there, minimal fires, and there were huge salmon runs they could subsist off of. Of course, historical facts mean nothing to libtards when there is a political agenda to push.

The Chumash and their predecessors have lived there for at least 13,000 years. My sons mother is one.

Some left it... but I doubt it was all, because otherwise why would Spanish Catholics have been founding missions out that way?

It might not have taken long for American Indians to figure out a concept of “controlled burns.” If they didn’t wait for lightning to ignite big fires, but ignited little ones themselves while the fuel was minimal, they could have a more stable environment.
