The so-called Thomas Fire is only 15 percent contained, now threatening the city of Santa Barbara and the nearby coastal town of Carpinteria, and is on track to become one of the worst wildfires in California history.
It has already destroyed 583 structures and scorched 173,000 acres, the authorities say. New evacuations were ordered in Carpinteria, which been under fire threat for days.
The new evacuation zone extends within two miles of the Santa Barbara Zoo.

No federal aid.
Those helos, aircraft and fire engines produce tons of CO2....
Plus it’s organic and largely gluten free....

Maybe they could get MS-13 to man the fire lines?
Mutual aid from Mexico?
Are you saying no, there is no federal aid, or no, there shouldn’t be any federal aid? If you’re saying the latter, then I’m sorry you feel that way. There are children who are suffering out there.
Build a city in the desert where dry Santa Ana winds blow hard and fast every year like clockwork, brush is never cleared, controlled burns are never done, house building codes never updated stop flying embers from burning houses down... If you want a fire disaster, that’s how you get a fire disaster!
... and lots of families have lost their homes. They are as worthy as those in the floods earlier this year.
All of So Cal is a desert. Do you live in CA?
Agreed.
Dear California,
I will not be mocked.
God
The winds may not help to keep the fire in the higher elevations of the mountains:

The fire has already burned down to the ocean ... BOTH sides of the PCH. Pacific Coast Highway.
No comment on the fires
No, not all of Southern California is a desert. If thats true then Italy is a desert too. Theres a reason its called a mediterranean climate and its not because its just like the Sahara.
And yes, I live here.
As a friend in California said, if you own your house and lot, then it burns, the insurance will pay off.
The burned over lot will soon be worth more than the house and lot at the time it burned.
That’s California.
Believe it or not, about half the people on the forum literally hate California and want people here to die.
I have heard [feel free to tell me if it’s not true] that the Santa Ana Winds have the same properties that blow on the Sahara.
MOST of So Calif, not the High Sierras.
