Franks has supported Trump since Trump got the nomination.
This is bad news.

About 10 minutes ago, Fox announced “breaking news” that Ethics Comm. is opening an investigation on Franks.

Apparently, though I’d have backed him regardless.

“I have recently learned that the Ethics Committee is reviewing an inquiry regarding my discussion of surrogacy with two previous female subordinates, making each feel uncomfortable,” he said in a statement. “I deeply regret that my discussion of this option and process in the workplace caused distress.”

You don’t know anything about Trent Franks, do you?

Ugh.
Safe seat but I wish he’d just not run again and retire, no need to run and hide and waste money on a special election and leave the seat vacant for months when there could be close votes.
Doesn’t sound like did anything. Made a chick “uncomfortable”? The human race is gonna die out if this keeps up.
The hell with it, he should man up and stay and run again, unless he whipped it out why does his life need to be ruined? It doesn’t, fight back gents.

I don’t get this one, either.
Unless he is being intentionally vague about what he actually proposed to these women and is understating it somehow, I can’t imagine this is grounds for a guy to have to leave congress.

They are now saying his wife can’t get pregnant and he repeatedly offered female aides money to sleep with him and have his kid(s), at one point offering 5 MILLION (he’s worth 30).
That’s nuts, if true. There are women who would willingly do that (with a turkey baster rather than intercourse) for far less money.

Ah. And because of some religious thing in his brain he wanted to do it the natural way, rather than via in vitro, or implantation. Ok, that’s really stupid. It’s probably better all in all to have people that stupid not be in congress.

Odd, given that he and the wife used IVF and and donor egg to have their twins in 2008.

But in IVF sometimes there are successfully fertilized eggs that are then not implanted, and discarding them may be offensive to strict pro-life sensibilities.

“But in IVF sometimes there are successfully fertilized eggs that are then not implanted, and discarding them may be offensive to strict pro-life sensibilities.”
You are correct on both counts, but are ignoring two key facts here: (i) Trent Franks and his wife already had twin children with a surrogate mother who had fertilized eggs implanted through IVF and (ii) Trent Franks has asserted that they performed such implantations without violating their moral principles, including without discarding embryos. So Franks not only knows that IVF can be done morally and ethically (only fertilizing, say, two eggs, and implanting both of them), but he’s actually done it. If it is true that he asked one or two employees to have sexual intercourse with him so that she could be a surrogate mother for him and his wife (which I find very hard to believe), it would not be *because* of his Christian values, nor because of his pro-life principles.
