Franken made certain promises when he ran, to certain people, to do their bidding, no matter what, were he elected, because he would not have been elected without them.
Part of that deal is that if things go wrong, he still must do their bidding.
These are not Franken's words, they are the words of the poeple that owned him, own him still, and will continue to own him.
For most of these people, there is no road to major office without selling a majority of your soul and free will and nothing you say that effects the party is controlled by you. Non of these words are Franken's, whether or not he agrees or disagrees with various parts, or was allowed to insert certain words and phrases to make it sound like his voice.
