his own party turned on him.

no proof of criminal activity.

allegations, some admitted stupid behaviour.

sorry folks, this isn’t how it should be—the thugs of the Beltway ought not to be able to do this.

oh well.

Don’t get me wrong. I think Franken stole the election and was a horrible horrible legislator. The way he is being removed is witch hunt stuff.

If all it takes is “J’accuse!” to get rid of a guy, then freedom is truly in danger.

Star Chamber, anyone?

jmho.

This purge of Democrat s is making me very nervous. Democrats do not do this. What are they up to? Why are they sacrificing their own members? It could be a ploy to “get” Roy Moore, but somehow I don’t think they would go that far for one replacement Republican. Somehow they are going for our president. What do they have that they can use against him that fits into the current purge? Yes, I’m paranoid. After 30 years of their games we have reason to be paranoid.

“If all it takes is “J’accuse!” to get rid of a guy, then freedom is truly in danger.”

Well said. The idea that a man’s career can be ruined by a handful of women making vague and unsubstantiated accusations is problematic. This kind of smear campaign has become too easy to prosecute and too difficult to defend against.

I don’t care what happens to Al Franken but how will GOOD men justify entering into a life of civil service when there is such a high likelihood that they will face this.

I’ve wondered the same thing about male high school teachers too. Why would any sane male make that career choice when it’s almost guaranteed that eventually some maladjusted teenage girl will accuse him of sexual misconduct or leering or whatever? I know some male teachers and if this hasn’t happened, it’s like waiting for lightening to strike.

And even when there’s proof, like the picture of Franken groping the sleeping women - it’s sleazy behavior but how much of a crime is it? People need to get thicker skins.

Career ending disclosures should not only be better substantiated, they ought to be more serious offenses. There is real child abuse, there are real rapes, there is real sexual blackmail where victims feel they have to perform sex to keep their job or avoid some other consequence. These are real crimes.

But locker room talk? Unsoliceted shoulder rub or pat on the but cheek? Suggestive language or dirty jokes? Sleazy perhaps, but is it enough to ruin someone’s career? Women better lighten up and save their amo for when there is a real offense.

JMHO.
