The probe, likely to be rigorous, would be carried out behind closed doors by the Senate Ethics Committee's professional, nonpartisan staff. It could take months, and might come up empty or conclude with an "admonishment" essentially a slap on the wrist. The committee could also recommend that the full Senate vote on a motion to "censure" Moore or expel him from Congress.
If he were to be elected, he would immediately have an issue with the Ethics Committee that they would take up, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., told reporters Tuesday during a Capitol Hill news conference.

Of course if he had been a Democrat he would have horn dogged married women.
Base on what we think we know, if I’m Franken, I wait until after the Moore election.
Maybe Mueller will be available for another witch hunt by then.
Who cares.
The idiots dems will always be the party of Bill Clinton and Ted Kennedy.
That's probably going to happen sooner rather than later and my expectation is that it will be a double-edged sword with as many Republicans on the list as Democrats.
But that still won't answer the Moore question.
His answer to every question should be either “Ted Kennedy” or “Massachusetts.” If the people of Alabama elect him after only allegations, what to think of the people of MA for electing EMK after everyone KNEW FOR CERTAIN a young woman died because of his cowardice and randy ways.
Moore has iron balls. The Swamp is owned and occupied by bullies. He will destroy them. The only thing standing between a bully and a snowflake is a courageous person.
If the senate decides to investigate Moore, Moore should immediately sue his accusers and Gloria Allred. Gloria likes to hold press conferences where she smears republicans, but let’s see how they do in court, with discovery, under oath. Any senate investigation will be like a press conference. No evidence allowed. See if the senpate expells someone who wins a lawsuit under a higher standard.
Yesterday I looked up the standing rules of the US Senate. There are about t rules pertaining to ethics - prohibition of unauthorized office accounts, gifts, foreign travel, conflict of interest, etc. The Senate code of conduct has nothing about personal behavior, especially behavior that took place 40 years ago. The Senate Ethics Committee wouldn’t seem to have any right go after Moore - but I’m sure they will anyway.
Who cares what they say?
Everyone, most especially the perpetrators, know the whole Moore thing is a political hitjob desired by BOTH parties for exactly the same reasons. The Democrat sacrifices are DOCUMENTED perps!
The proper political answer from Republicans should be "I support the decision of the people of Alabama who know Senator Moore best. They looked at the facts for over a month and weighed them against the man they knew for close to forty years."

Democrats and independent voters would be my guess. They'll hope to influence them.

We'll see how it plays in 2018, won't we?
Moore only dated for about six years, from the time he finished law school in 1977 until he met his wife in 1984.

I would be willing to bet by early next year. I expect the list to be long. And I expect that there will probably be as many Democrats on it as Republicans.
If he wins and is found to be not guilty in the hearings that are sure happen, he’s got the job. If he wins and is forced to resign, the governor(R) will replace him.
Won't happen. What McConnell is doing there is talking out of his ass, which comes easy to him, that's where his head is. Thanks ColdOne.
I would be very, very careful about riling up Judge Moore.
Like Trump he WILL fight you and considering the countless skeletons in Congress’ closet, they might be well advised to leave him the hell alone.
Those accusing Moore of sexual assault lack credibility. Paying off a sexual harassment claim is an admission of guilty.
Moore has been accused by what, eight women? Nine? Some, like that one that Allred cooked up have been found to be less than credible, but I'm not aware of anything that has discredited all the rest? They're out there. They have no evidence. Moore's called them all liars. So it's a matter of who you believe. And people will believe what they believe.
Back in October Tim Murphy was accused of pressuring his mistress to have an abortion. Remember that? The pressure was on him to resign and within a day Paul Ryan was announcing Murphy's resignation on the floor of the House. About a week ago Blake Farenthold announced he had used federal funds to pay off a sexual harassment claim. Where are the calls from GOP leadership for Farenthold to resign? Where is his tearful speech in the House Chamber? He has said he will pay back the government money that went to his victim. And that's it.
Conyers, Franken, Kihuen, in all these cases the Democrat leadership has been vocal in saying the person in question should resign. The Republican response has been crickets. Don't think the Democrats won't be using this in 2018. It may not sway a lot of Republicans. But it could influence the female independents. And it could cost some otherwise winnable races.
Nine accusations? Can you list them?
It was my understanding that the only "accusations" were 1) Leigh Corfman accused Moore of touching her when she was 14, and 2) Beverly Young Nelson accused Moore of trying to force her to perform oral sex on him in his car, and 3) Tina Moore accused Moore of pinching her backside in his law office.
The rest were just recounting dates with Moore, and were not accusations.
