The Justice Department is in the process of handing over to the House Intelligence Committee the anti-Trump text messages that got a key FBI official removed from Robert Mueller's Russia probe, Fox News has learned -- a move that comes as the panel weighs a possible contempt resolution.
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., had demanded the text messages between FBI counterintelligence agent Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, an FBI lawyer with whom Strzok was romantically involved. Both were part of Mueller's Russia team at the time. Page has since returned to the FBI, and Strzok was reassigned to the FBI's HR department after the discovery of the anti-Trump texts.
The existence of the texts first emerged publicly over the weekend. A source familiar with the discussion between the DOJ and House panel told Fox News on Tuesday that Nunes has been assured those messages will be turned over in the coming days.
The exact timeline is unclear, and only the relevant texts will be turned over.
Also unclear is whether this will satisfy committee Republicans who had been looking to move forward with a contempt resolution against top DOJ and FBI officials barring a breakthrough after the agencies did not comply with a deadline to hand over long-sought information that goes well beyond text messages.
Nunes originally had given the agencies until close of business on Monday to fully comply with the panels demands. Otherwise, he threatened to move a contempt of Congress resolution against Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray.

Sessions is....at best....a worthless piece of crap.
He is probably a traitor.
“The contempt of Congress is turned over to the Sessions-controlled Justice Department.
Which means criminal charges will never be filed.”
Fixed that for you.
I have wondered about him. He seems to be part of the corruption. While he did come out early as a Trump supporter, could this have been an act and he was actually a plant in came Trump won?
Good for the KY cops——my son is a cop in a blue state but said the guys he spoke with were all for Trump.
.
Cut funding. They could end both agencies if they wanted.
Congress was looking for more that that. So keep the contempt charge coming.
I have read that Strozk used his government email for some of his communications with Paige (sp?) and those should be immediately available. I would think his private emails to her could be discoverable as they are both federal employees.
Contempt of Congress. Bwaahaha. Means nothing.
Given that Mueller helped cover it up why not a contempt citation for him maybe an obstruction of justice charge as well.
I have known for a long time the Senate is the epitome of corruption
“loading our agencies with Deep State operatives”
Obama had 8 years. What about George Bush before him? President Bush had 8 years to load the agencies too. Surely he put in some decent people who are still there today? I hope so.

GWB seems to be much closer to O than Trump. I would not count on the quality of his staffing either.
Make them public. None of the ‘behind closed doors’ BS.
Well, they are not cuckolds but well-remunerated pimps.
But he didn't. The problem with Bush / Cheney is that they filled the agencies, not with folks who were competent, but folks who were politically loyal [which is part of how Iraq turned into such a mess], as did the Clintons before him. Utter, unmitigated, unquestioned incompetence has been the rule in our federal agencies for 24 years, and I challenge you to prove me wrong.
What is particularly distinctive about Bush is how easily his imprint on the government was to remove - in those few places where one might argue he actually did some good.
Placemark.
Lisa Page looks like a tranny. And I dont mean four on the floor.
It’s not the rank and file that are anti-Trump. It’s the upper level folks. Same goes for the what is happening at the FBI. The agents I know and have dealt with are legit. But, at some point they, like anyone else in law enforcement, have to make a decision. Do I want to rise thru the ranks and climb the ladder or do I want to be on the street for the next 20 years. They have to throw a bone to the “street cops” once in a while and promote a few of them. But, the majority of the rest become political animals, latch on to one person and ride those coattails until they can’t ride them anymore or get promoted high enough that they can get off of them.
These days, you aren’t climbing the ladder unless you chug, bath, and sell the KooAid.
