The Wall Street Journal is urging special counsel Robert Mueller to resign.
In an editorial, the newspaper cited "troubling questions" about Mueller and the FBI.
"The Washington Post and The New York Times reported Saturday that a lead FBI investigator on the Mueller probe, Peter Strzok, was demoted this summer after it was discovered he'd sent anti-Trump texts to a mistress," the Journal said.
"As troubling, Mr. Mueller and the Justice Department kept this information from House investigators, despite Intelligence Committee subpoenas that would have exposed those texts. They also refused to answer questions about Mr. Strzok's dismissal and refused to make him available for an interview."
And it said Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein is taking on a questionable role of resisting congressional oversight.
It noted the Justice Department has floated numerous reasons for ignoring the House subpoenas. And it claimed none of them were "persuasive."
"First it claimed cooperation would hurt the Mueller probe, but his prosecutions are proceeding apace," the Journal said. "Then Justice claimed that providing House investigators with classified material could hurt security or sources.
And the Journal said the time has come for Mueller to step down.
"The latest news supports our view that Mr. Mueller is too conflicted to investigate the FBI and should step down in favor of someone more credible," the newspaper said. "The investigation would surely continue, though perhaps with someone who doesn't think his job includes protecting the FBI and Mr. (James) Comey from answering questions about their role in the 2016 election."

Well, when you lose the WSJ.........
oh the memories of watching Ma and Pa Barker as a lad. I never had it so good.
Imagine a regime, where there is on set of rules for the general population, and another for the "elites", where the security apparatus is not in place to protect against external threats but to enforce against perceived internal threats, and the propaganda organs are not only being ignored, but hated. And the elites for years have been enjoying carte blanche to exploit and persecute the population....
All we need now is Trump standing up in front of the population as military advances on the capital. Only difference here is that "ex-KGB" won't be burrowing into vacuums left behind by a collapsed Soviet state.
The media (at least the smart ones) sense that the hemp farms aren't just growing pot, but are stocking up rope.
So why does Trump keep him as AG?
It’s not about the publicity for Mueller.
I am beginning to think it is about his own reputation, and potential exposure for his past conduct as FBI Director.
Just like Brennan.
Maybe some day, the rest of us will learn what has actually been going on in DC for the last 50 years.
Step Down?
Nah.
He should go back to where he came from.
(East Germany?)
Just guessing.
IMHO
Us = U.S.A.
Them = Federal Goverment Deep State
Choose.
Prison for Mueller and the others for Uranium One and other treasonous high-crimes.
Trump must now pardon everyone!! The Meuller capal is a crime syndicate, Strzok was obstructing the justice due hillary!!
When he starts looking into Donald Trump’s finances, I agree with the Wall Street Journal that he should step down. Trump’s finances have nothing to do with the reason he was taken on. Not finding anything, he is resorting to a fishing expedition. It’s time to shut him down if he won’t step down himself.
Keep Sessions?
A Roy Moore win means the non Clubster will guarentee recess appointments by Trump over Christmas, then Sessions and Muellers may both be gone.
I hope Trump is keeping Sessions because there is more that is going on than has been let out. That is the only thing I can see. Trump would never keep someone like Sessions around unless something is there.
No Deal. The entire swamp needs to be drained.
That fits the facts. Trump has no patience for those who aren’t performing. People who have worked for him all talk about how hard he drives them.
Congress threatened Trump not to replace Sessions. So Trump takes the long road.
When the timing is right, Trump will short-can Sessions.
We need an American-style Nuremberg trial to punish these traitors for crimes against the Constitution and the American people. Time to call out the Marines and Airborne to arrest these traitors.
“Congress threatened Trump not to replace Sessions.”
and how exactly is that supposed to have worked? “Congress” is in the habit of ignoring the separation of powers, is it?
Who do you think claimed to speak for “Congress” and moreover had the clout to threaten Trump?
Some might say it's the useful idiots who keep asking conservatives to let Mueller be.
If he dismissed Strozk in July and did not inform Flynn’s attorneys he most certainly has failed in his duty to inform.
