WASHINGTON — Representative John Conyers Jr., who faces allegations that he sexually harassed former employees, announced Tuesday that he will leave Congress immediately, and he endorsed his son, John Conyers III, to replace him.
Mr. Conyers, the longest-serving current member of the House and the longest-serving African-American in history, called into a local radio show on Tuesday to break the news.
“I am retiring today,” Mr. Conyers said from a hospital in Michigan. “I am in the process of putting together my retirement plans. I will have more on that soon.”
He continued to deny that he has harassed any of his former employees and said he did not know where the allegations came from.
“My legacy can’t be compromised or diminished in any way by what we are going through now,” Mr. Conyers said. “This too shall pass. My legacy will continue through my children.”

You’re correct. A friend of mine was brutally murdered by a “bro” four years ago. I was checking out the murderer’s Facebook page this morning. They are totally hanging with him. Full support. “The man” is keeping him down, etc. Sickening. The deceased left behind a pregnant young wife.

If Trump wants to give the liberals aneurysms, he should point out that Conyers, a black man, was asked to resign, but Franken stays since he’s white :-).
The truth is that the DNC cannot afford a competitive special election in Minnesota. That’s the only reason Franken is staying ... Minn *almost* went for Trump (only lost the state by 1.5%).

Ummm, John Conyers Jr. iz 88 years old and can’t ask questions unless someone else writes them out, hands them to him and tells him what the hearing is about... He’s been a basket case for more than a decade.
Now he’s going to name a successor as if he was some English King of old? Yeah, and democrats and their butt boys in the press will pretend he’s been kicked out for being an abuser... gimme a break. He’s 88 years old... and should have been gone years ago. They all knew what he was up to and never did a thing until he was caught with the ‘me too’ meme. Democrats lost control of that meme - it was only suppose to hurt Trump - not the army of liberal elite abusers it’s flushed out of the DC and Hollywood.

I looked into it ... there would be a special election ... the Gov would appoint a replacement, but they would hold a special election in 2018.
