What offense did Moore commit that offends so much ? As far as I can tell he attempted romance no worse than any of us tried as young adults. Is it the age difference ?...which in that time and place wasn't so unusual, where in fact young brides were desired.

It sounds like he's guilty of a late puberty, nothing worse.
