So why did Flynn lie?
American Thinker ^ | 12/04/2017 | Monica Showalter

Much has been made of why Special Counsel Robert Mueller prosecuted former national security adviser Michael Flynn, who lied to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.  But what about the lie itself, which President Trump has noted on Twitter was a pretty useless lie?

I had to fire General Flynn because he lied to the Vice President and the FBI. He has pled guilty to those lies. It is a shame because his actions during the transition were lawful. There was nothing to hide!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 2, 2017

The conventional wisdom, as UCLA law professor Harry Litman lays out, is that Flynn "knew" that talking with the Russians, or rather, "negotiating" with them, as he extends the term, was "wrong and inimical to U.S. interests."  I notice he doesn't use the word "illegal," and from a law professor, that's significant.  Just "wrong."

As Jack Posobiec has found, it was actually all right.

I think Flynn lied because he was afraid.  And he was afraid because he's a Washington swamp creature, even if a Trump-friendly one.

In the Washington swamp culture, nothing is worse than talking to a Russian.

Russia is our worst enemy, supposedly, and great amounts of spydom and security clearances hinge on keeping Russia as big an enemy as possible.  More enemy, more government funds for the bureaucracies that hunt Russian spies.  And more specifically, talk to a Russian, lose your security clearance.

This is different than Libby. In this case, he had business dealings, he was corrupted and compromised. Flynn deserves the conviction. Montford will deserve his, Podesta his as well. I suspect will see a handful of these folks ultimately getting convicted, of their corrupt and compromised business and political practices. It is a shame that Trump let them get so close to him that he gets stained by their guilt.

There’s a good chance they were blackmailing his son to. His son’s liabilities keep popping up.

This is 100% BS. Flynn lied to protect the President. The only thing he was afraid of is the slimy corrupt media turning I perfectly legit discussion in the transition period into a weapon. So he fell on a grenade like any honorable soldier would.

Those who denigrate his character without knowing that actual facts should be ashamed.

Probably because he worked a long time for Dems and he watched and listened to them lie with ease and get away with it. You know like Obama and Hillary. He forgot to tighten up his game to dot the “i”s and cross the “t”s working as an “R”, especially working for Donald Trump with those same people mentioned in the former are out to get you.

I’ve read he was ordered by nobama, 2 days after DJ Trump won the election, from shrillery, to meet with Krislyak. nobama was still president at that time, this was Before President Trump was sworn into the Presidency.

Did he lie or simply misremember?
How would you prove a lie rather than a misremembering?
And was the lie material?
There’s a lot of discussion about a lie but not the actual lie.

Lying is a contagious disease. Highly contagious. And, it seems Flynn DID work for BOB prior to becoming a Trumpet.
BO’B might be seen as the Typhoid Mary of the present time. He seems to be traveling the world contaminating the population.

A plausible reason why not to give the lying and corrupt media ammo.

First you have to talk about what he lied about.
Obama put sanctions against Russia. Flynn talked with the Russian ambassador generally saying this will blow over.

Flynn was in a catch 22.
If he told Trump he might put Trump into trouble. Trump wasn't president yet. If he doesn't tell him he could get into trouble.

I think it comes down to the difference between the ingrained defensive mentality of Pence and Flynn as longtime Washington creatures versus the bold and unapologetic approach of Trump as an outsider.

Remember, Flynn also lied to Pence about not having talked to the Russian Ambassador about sanctions. And that was probably because Flynn correctly sensed that Pence was unwilling to forthrightly defend such a conversation, and wanted to be able to deny that it had occurred when Pence in interviews would kowtow before the MSM journolisters. So Flynn told Pence what Pence wanted to hear so Pence could play along with the narrative by the MSM and the DC establishment.

Similarly, in talking to the FBI I think what likely happened is that Flynn simply implicitly accepted the MSM/Dem premise that such a conversation would be wrong, undermining the holy sanctions policy of lame duck Dear Leader Obama or violating the Logan Act or some other nonsense. So he lied, defensively.

The better approach would have been for Pence to say to the press, f yeah we talked to the Russians about sanctions. We were elected and Obama/Hillary was rejected. Screw them.

And maybe Pence should have gone on offense and gone further and said that Obama as a lame duck rejected by the American voters had no business making such a dramatic sanctions move against the Russians after the election had occurred. He should have said Obama’s duty was to tread water until the inauguration of the newly-elected president and not make major new policy moves.

But Pence’s style is to fold like a cheap suit, which we saw when as Indiana governor he betrayed the Christians who owned a humble pizza joint in order to appease the homosexual CEO of Apple and the MSM.

Consider this:

1. He was an Obama staff member at DIA.

2. He lied despite absolute knowledge the government was listening in to Kislyak, the Russian ambassador

3. He hid his ties to the Turkish government

4. His son is liable in issues involving lobbying for Turkey and Russia.

5. Gen Flynn is a democrat

6. After retiring from DIA in 2014 he immediately had world class foreign clients for his lobbying firm set up with his son as a participant.

Maybe he didn’t lie, but was crushed financially and psychologically by Mueller using unlimited resources stolen from us to “break” weak players in this fake drama.

President Donald Trump said it was unfair that formal national security adviser Mike Flynn had his “life ruined” for lying to the FBI, the president said when speaking to reporters Monday morning.

Trump blasted former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for reportedly lying under oath to the FBI and not suffering any consequences, while Flynn currently faces charges for making false statements to the bureau.

An incoming administration is asked questions that really should not have been asked in the first place.

That is what has happened, Obama spied, Flynn lied, no surprise. He is a dem after all.

This is an attempted coup that will fail even if it requires blood.

They think they have a handful with Trump.

Obama never EVER should have made such an important move against a major country without including the incoming administration. I remember Bush including Obama during his administration
