Could you explain or provide a Link explaining how a carcass, which has not been very quickly covered by flood sediment, could be fossilized 'by slow-and-gradual geology'?
We lived in East Africa for many years. In times of drought there were many wild animal carcasses lying about. Between the large carnivores, scavengers and maggots there was very little left after a few months. Even the skulls & horns we hung on the shed wall soon gave evidence of insects devouring the horn from within.
The Ocean is no different.
