I was in the Air Wing (MASS - Marine Air Support Squadron) and spent much of my time in the Mojave Desert with C-130s (Gallant Eagle and similar exercises). I maintained a DASC (Direct Air Support Center) and we would put our vans into the belly of C-130s and support the exercises including directing bombers to their targets. So no ship duty for me but I earned my flight pay.

Thanks for clarifying your comment. If we were going to war in Korea, I trust that our military will put the proper resources into play.

The C-130’s I flew on in the Navy were barely holding together.

I can’t imagine the condition of a USMC C-130. Rough I suspect.
