The problem is that Flynn and to some extent his son, were engaged in these various dealings with Turkey and other countries lobbying for their interests. The Inside the Beltway crowd is populated by these consulting firms that use access to attract foreign money. Retired generals, admirals, diplomats, congressmen, etc. are representing foreign countries. Even Kissinger acted on behalf of China.
No doubt Flynn may have some skeletons in his closet or vulnerabilities to prosecution that cause him to remain silent. And then there are the tremendous legal costs that can literally bankrupt you. His statement speaks volumes:
After over 33 years of military service to our country, including nearly five years in combat away from my family, and then my decision to continue to serve the United States, it has been extraordinarily painful to endure these many months of false accusations of treason and other outrageous acts. Such false accusations are contrary to everything I have ever done and stood for. But I recognize that the actions I acknowledged in court today were wrong, and, through my faith in God, I am working to set things right. My guilty plea and agreement to cooperate with the Special Counsel's Office reflect a decision I made in the best interests of my family and of our country. I accept full responsibility for my actions.
I doubt Flynn will do any prison time. And he will get a pardon from Trump before he leaves office. It is important to note that Flynn was interviewed by the FBI long before Mueller arrived on the scene. Since the FBI had the recordings of Flynn's conversations with the Russians prior to his interview, it was an easy matter to catch him in a lie, especially with no counsel present.
So, is there some kind of stratergery going on behind the scenes the rest of us are not privy to? That is what makes me doubt the Mueller works for Trump behind the scenes idea. The stakes are very high for these people.
I don't subscribe to the theory that Mueller is working with Trump given the composition of his proprietorial staff. And the revelations about Peter Strzok and Lisa Page are truly disturbing. It brings into clear focus the obvious partisanship of the investigators not only into the Russian collusion case, but Hillary's emails and Benghazi. Strzok (and McCabe) was a lead investigator, not some underling. He participated in the interview of Hillary on the email scandal. I wonder how much he was involved in the granting of immunizations and the decision to allow Cheryl Mills to act as Hillary's lawyer during the FBI interview.

Great question! My guess is that he and McCabe (and even Comey) are implicated in that. If we could get a Special Counsel appointed, justice might finally be served to the whole lot.
A lie?
When the interrogator has the transcript in front of him, and the suspect is facing the spotlight, being asked to recall verbatim what was spoken in a conversation two years ago, it's real hard to be factually incorrect.
AHA!...you said "should have" there...not "did"...Liar LIAR LIAR!
Thanks for the great reply!
Now one more thing I want to ask you, what is the worst case Mueller could have on Trump or his lieutenants, that could possibly come from Flynn?
I think you’re spot on about collusion not being a crime, but how can they twist things based on Flynn that they could use, if at all?
I ask ‘cause like you, I don’t see a “there” there (collusion). That tree doesn’t have a coon in it. If they were seeking the truth, they’d be moving on to a another tree. That’s why I’m twisted about Sessions. You’ve said in the past the “Get Trump” angle was a ruse so they could get the real culprits. In that regards, it almost makes sense.
Personally, I think the bigger damage in all of this is not what they could or couldn’t do to Trump, but what they’ve done to this country, the intelligence community, the FBI and truth and justice. And if Sessions is working this behind the door, it’s right to go after this bigger crime. Because the bigger crime is a deathblow to the country. If it becomes standard for presidents to use the intelligence community to spy on and unmask their political rivals, we’re doomed.
And really, in all this corruption two names stand out:
Hillary Clinton (not Bill) and Barrack Obama.
I’m watching a segment on C-SPAN featuring Peon Patheta, Pompeo in forum on “Intelligence and National Security”.
