Donald Trump attacks FBI for 'destroying' Michael Flynn's life (tr)

Michael Flynn's cooperation with the Russia probe seemed to unnerve President Donald Trump on Saturday night, and he lashed out at the FBI for 'destroying' the ex-adviser's life.

'So General Flynn lies to the FBI and his life is destroyed, while Crooked Hillary Clinton, on that now famous FBI holiday "interrogation" with no swearing in and no recording, lies many times... and nothing happens to her?' Trump wrote.

'Rigged system, or just a double standard?'

In a second tweet shortly after, Trump added: 'Many people in our Country are asking what the "Justice" Department is going to do about the fact that totally Crooked Hillary, AFTER receiving a subpoena from the United States Congress, deleted and "acid washed" 33,000 Emails? No justice!'

The tweets come the day after Flynn agreed to cooperate with the FBI's investigation into Russia's meddling with the presidential election.

Flynn pleaded guilty to lying about communicating with Russian ambassador and alleged spy Sergey Kislyak in December last year, before Trump stepped into office. Critics say that violates the 1799 Logan Act, which forbids unauthorized Americans from representing the US government to foreign powers that are in dispute with the US.

On Friday claims emerged that senior members of the Trump transition team, had identified Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law and close adviser, as the man who told him to liaise with Russia.

The tweets didn’t break the law, but what they think the tweets said means it was broken.

They are wrong, but their thinking is like this:

If Trump “knew” Flynn lied to the FBI and Trump told Comey to lay off Flynn on the “Russia thing,” then Trump is admitting he tried to obstruct justice.

Trump and Pence may not have known what Flynn said by that time and even if they did, it does not follow that any obstruction was done because Trump didn’t do anything but ask Comey if the Russia review on “collusion” could be dropped because there was no collusion or Russian contact directed by Trump until he was the primary winner, when every primary winner is expected to make these contacts.

I think FBI should be disbanded. Close the agency for corruption and lay all the employees off.

Worked for Arthur Andersen. It could work here too.

First point: I endorsed Donald Trump before he got off the escalator in June 2015, and I support him today.

Second point: he is the President and a hostile Congress is going to remove him if he does not take control of his government.

He is in charge of the FBI. He should not be bitching about it, he should be directing it. If combinations too powerful to submit to ordinary executive direction have arisen, he can use the military.

But he can’t control his subordinates by whiny tweets.

He uses Twitter as a strategic tool. DJT created a boorish character we know as “Trump” because he prefers to be underestimated. Trump uses Twitter to distract and bait his enemies (remember liberals eschew facts and react viscerally to everything), signal his allies, and condition the public. His use of Twitter is masterful and almost universally misunderstood.

Don’t worry, I believe Trump’s storm is on the way. I expect to see it rain indictments. I expect perp walks of the powerful. Their lies, unbridled hubris, graft, and treasons will soon be laid bare. The way the Flynn plea went down seems to confirm it.

Would Trump pardoning Flynn be considered obstruction of justice?

If not, he should pardon him.

Witchhunt.

Amen. Presumably it plays well with fans of pro-wrestling taunts and reality TV shows. Is he jester in chief or President?

I would prefer Trump get some Congressional support, then issue an Executive Order requiring the DoJ appoint Rudy Guliani as independent Counsel to investigate and prosecute all matters Clinton, DoJ and FBI obstruction, coverups, and leaks, etc., for as far back as statues of limitations allow to yesterday. Venues for grad Juries and trials must not be Washington or NYC.
