It is remarkable to note that as Congress wrestles with enormously significant legislative proposals that the biggest story in Washington (or any place else) remains the reckoning over workplace sexual harassment.
Now, we know that part of this is prurient. Talking about sexual conduct, even in a negative context, is always going to be more interesting than corporate tax rates.
But the other, more significant part of all this is that the direction and work of the government very much depends on how these matters play out and who is the next to fall.
Democrats are currently bowing to reality about Rep. John Conyers D-Mich. Conyers, 88, has been checked into a Detroit hospital, having succumbed to stress. Whether the longest-serving House member leaves claiming physical incapacity or ends up acknowledging the severity of the allegations of misconduct against him doesnt matter.
With House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi going from defending Conyers the icon on Sunday to calling for his resignation on today, its clear he wont be able to stick it out for another year. Perhaps the staff that has held power and profited by Conyers position, even well into his dotage, can only convince him to explain his departure by infirmity. But go, he will.
This, of course, makes matter much worse for Minnesota Sen. Al Franken. Almost daily, new accusers continue to step forward claiming that Franken engaged in nearly identical behavior to that which forced his lame apology last week.

Who is going to get taken down next?
Al Franken, Lion of the Senate. Just ask him.
The rea’ objective, of course, is neither Conyers nor Gropen, er, Franken, both of whom are expendable. Should either or both be expelled from their respective chambers, the likely replacement will be a Democrat who may turn out to be even more liberal, if that is at all possible.
The precedent being trained for is to either to prevent Judge Roy Moore from being seated, should he be elected, or to expel him forthwith, if the seating cannot be stopped.
The big Kahuna, though, is Donald Trump himself, on charges similar to those contained in the Fusion GPS dossier and tossed about freely during the days running up to Trump winning the nomination, most of which were demolished after being made, or simply ignored by the voters who put him in office.
A Minnesota paper editorialized Frankens apology ...didnt like it.....said it sounded like hes sorry for what you think I did.
A DISCOURAGING WORD FOR DEMOCRAT AL THE CUPPER FRANKEN
Heres a powerful anti-Democratic campaign issue just begging for 30-second TV spot ads.
Democrat Al Franken raised $26 million from Hollywood celebs. He gave $25 million and change to other Democrat candidates (a bribe to get these Democrats on his side).
Peckerwoods under siege as the Perv capital of the world........and tone-deaf Frankens sucking up money from the likes of Harvey Weinstein clones and giving it to Democrat campaigns?
Like voters are gonna love that.
BTW Al, you can forget about your long-held dream of being president....that pic of you cupping the breasts of a sleeping woman is your lasting legacy as a politician.
Franken, GTH out of my government....this means you.
That is SO brilliant!
>>The big Kahuna, though, is Donald Trump himself
EXACTLY! And our problem is how to protect Trump when the deluge begins.
Bol!
Rats never, NEVER resign.
And, Liz, he got into gov’t fraudulently...suddenly finding 300 odd votes, all for him, in the trunk of a car which gave him just the edge over the incumbent. He got in under a cloud and is leaving the same way.
OK, here’s the deal, the straight poop on Franken. He collects photos of himself cupping the breasts of women. It is in effect counting coup.
By collecting the photos he is keeping score, making notches on his gun. We can rest assured that such a photo collection exists. The action is in his mind comedic in nature and harmless enough mot to cause charges of harassment
Why’s the black perv gotta go when the white perv gets to stay?
In fact I believe we’re better of with a diminished but known quantity in Alfranken than whatever unknown progressive Mark Dayton can find to appoint to replace him.
Hey Garrison Keillor is looking for a job...!
Trump had everything thrown at him and then he got elected.
Everyone who could possibly hate the guy already has gone there.
He has taken the vaccine—he is immune.
Yep, the bigger concern now is Moore, because if he loses a Democrat gets Alabama. ALABAMA.
Franken is not leaving. There’s no outrage coming out of Minnesota. They just don’t care.
Trump should get a pass for 20 years and then we say gosh we are soooooo sorry..we now believe the women...That is true equality...Anything less is dems getting a pass for sex abuse and rape...
That’s good because the liberals will never be able to oust Trump unless Stewart Smalley goes.
