Call me cynical, but I'm suspicious of most staff officers who rose through the ranks during the Obama and Bush years. There were "Stalinist-lite" purges during those years, cleansing the ranks of anyone who did tow the party line. In particular, anyone who didn't buy into the "Religion of Peace" meme.
