Wasn’t Andrew Jackson a Democrat?

Yes, in everything except spending habits and national allegiance.

So was George Armstrong Custer. If he'd won at the Little Big Horn and settled the issue with the Sioux and Cheyenne, the plan among New York backers was for him to head back east as quickly as possible and take the 1876 Democrat convention nomination for president by acclamation.

But as Jim Thorpe reputedly said after decking a drunk and belligerent Errol Flynn on the set of They Died With Their Boots On, "Custer's $#!+ is still weak".

To be on the safe side, remove all portraits of Democrats from the White House.

They weren't all Indian killers but they were probably guilty of something else.
