I am not positive, but I think that even though the dude is a retired General, he needs to watch his mouth. I think he is still subject to the UCMJ, as far as bad mouthing POTUS goes.

General officers never legally retire. They are placed on the retired list but are subject to recall to active duty at any time.
Like in active duty as defendant at a general court-martial!!?
