"It took a generation to cause this mess..."
It took more than two generations. There are no real conservatives prominent or influential in politics and haven't been for more than two generations. We haven't seen the real mess, yet.
First, the younger people are no more socialist than those benefiting from the current paradigm of socialism. Some 40 million Americans receive their incomes from government now, and many of them falsely call themselves conservatives while pointing fingers.
Younger people will probably go through hardships that we cannot imagine. Most of the rest of us are spoiled rotten and have had it easy. Currently, our leaders in politics, academia and business are continuing to heap monstrous debts, world war and horrid shortages of resources on them after having deprived them of fathers through atrocious social policies and laws.
They'll have every reason and right to do exactly what so many contemporary, prevailing socialists are fearing so much.
