The Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Richard Cordray, has resigned. Senator Elizabeth Warren does not want President Trump to appoint an interim replacement. President Trump has announced OMB Director Mick Mulvaney will be the acting head of the agency until he nominates a permanent replacement for senate confirmation. Senator Warren wants to take President Trump to court to stop him filling the interim position.
The U.S. Dept. of Justice, Office of Legal Counsel (OLC), has provided legal guidance (full pdf outline of opinion below), and decided that President Trump clearly has the authority to appoint the acting Director. Senator Elizabeth Warren is going bananas.

He should find a brilliant candidate who also happens to be Native American. Someone other than Elizabeth Warren or Colin Kaepernick, who both think they're like Native Americans. But neither is brilliant, so don't choose either of them.

No, he should find a brilliant way to shut it down, along with the rest of Dodd-Frank.

Regardless of this; the mortgage servicer industry desperately needs to be reformed. They steal houses from people that pay on time, targeting low incomes, high ages, widows and orphans.
They take a payment you made and set it aside, then pay ahead for months. Then suddenly you are way behind and owe thousands due to fines and such. When you call with proof you made the payment they apologize and say their manager will fix it but that's just a delaying tactic. Enough time goes by and they just foreclose.
Lots of elderly and uneducated are flummoxed and don't know what to do.
It was lucky for me I read about it beforehand. When they did it to me I immediately filed complaints with the State Attorney General, the CFPB and my Congressman. I had the proof of payments and proof they knew it. I flat accused them of attempting to steal my house and harangued them with agencies for over 6 months. When it became clear I was more trouble than it was worth they restored everything.
But I read many cases of people who didn't know what to do. Their houses were stolen and continue to be at a high rate.
I sold my house and will not buy another until the industry is reformed. I can't take a chance they won't find a new way to steal it that I can't figure out before it's too late.

How does that happen? Failure to maintain homeowner’s insurance? If so, whose fault is that? It’s no different from having to maintain collision insurance on a car you’re still paying for. If not, what conditions are you describing?

This whole concept of "Senate Confirmation" for positions that didn't even exist when the Constitution was ratified if BOGUS NONSENSE!!
President Trump has cleared the WH of OBAMA CPUSA bugs via the "renovations", stopped the leaks , and after almost a year in office is FINALLY in a position to IRON FIST the WASHINGTONIANS, communists, race hustlers, and oligarch BANKSTERS.
The INEXPLICABLE tenure of Sessions at DOJ cannot possibly continue, and soon, it will be ON!!!

I'm describing open crime - and they get away with it. The company that tried to steal my house was
Green Tree, they later lost a paltry 63 million dollar lawsuit but they make far more than that. Then they just changed their name to DiTech and keep doing the same thing.
State Attorney Generals all have departments overwhelmed with complaints - mine did, too. Like I said, they mainly collect from the elderly, uneducated, widows and orphans who don't understand what happened - all they know is the Sheriff came and evicted them even though the mortgage servicer was still promising to straighten it out. Because (like I said) the mortgage services lie to them to distract them until it's too late.
I understand it's hard for a lot of people to believe. When I explained it to my relatives some of them asked "why couldn't you make your payments on time?" They couldn't understand a company would just take the money and not apply it to the loan.
If someone like me exposes them they just claim it's a mistake, fix it and they can no longer be charged in that case.
I'll try to say it again and hope you understand it's not insurance.
They take your payment and don't apply it to the loan - criminally. Then they lie to you that they'll fix it until it's foreclosed. Then nobody believes some old guy yelling in court.

Why was this guy still in the swamp?
Richard Cordray. Richard Adams Cordray (born May 3, 1959) is an American lawyer and Democratic Party politician who currently serves as the first Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Prior to his appointment in January 2012, Cordray served in various positions in the State of Ohio.
To: bobsunshine
Cordray named his OWN successor!! LOL!! What jerks Democrats are!

What you describe sounds incredible — why would they do it? They don’t want the real estate, they want payments.
However, I trust no bank, no professional lender. Ever.
If you want a house, find a fsbo.
If you’re handy, go to a tax sale and buy a house dirt cheap.

Could be. Barney Frank fought GW Bush’s attempt to investigate Fannie/Freddie’s finances.
