There wouldn’t be any foster care if they didn’t pay them for it. Personally, I think orphanages run by religious institutions worked better.

That’s not true. We went into training not knowing that we would be paid if a child was placed in our home. It was a surprise to find that out.
We wanted to foster to adopt, but unfortunately our state believes that children should be returned to their bio-parents pretty much in every circumstance. The children suffer the most.

My gut feeling is to agree, although I have no data to support this. Clearly, neither is ideal. I think we all need to understand how important the first several years of life are in defining a child’s life, and what demons they will have to deal with as adults. It’s difficult to get past abuse, neglect, and the absence of love. Not impossible, but difficult. Family is so very important, but we’ve downplayed this as a society, to great detriment and risk.
kind adults taking in the forgotten and mistreated children of the world OUT OF LOVE, not a paycheck.....
I have to wonder about all these fundraisers popping up to raise money for foster children to buy clothes...
excuse, me don't the adults get money to pay for the foster children?
If you believe that, you haven’t experienced how cruel some nuns can be to children.
