I had quite the lovely Thanksgiving meal in London once. The “Whole Foods” in Kensington turned the whole market and buffet into Thanksgiving themed fare. And restaurants all over the city cater to American expats. I don’t think people realize just how pervasive and influential American culture is...all over the world!
I used to make thanksgiving in Europe when I lived there. Finding pumpkin or molasses to make brown sugar with was quite difficult at the time. And the turkeys were nothing like the big ones here. But it worked, and everyone liked the food. Its very similar to the big chasse (hunting dinners) meals where there are always the same sides on the plate. Rack of venison with spaetzle and strewed fruits and Brussels sprouts and candied chestnuts, etc. Fall food!
