This Thanksgiving, I am grateful for many things but when it comes to politics, I am especially thankful that Hillary Clinton is not sitting in the Oval Office.
I am thankful that Neil M. Gorsuch is on the Supreme Court and that President Trump has secured a conservative majority that will protect human life, religious liberty, the Second Amendment and limited government. I am also thankful the president is moving at record pace to fill the federal appeals courts with young conservative judges. While the Supreme Court only hears about 80 cases a year, the federal appeals courts get final say on about 60,000 and because Democrats ended the filibuster, they cant stop Trump from filling those courts with conservative legal rock stars. The Senate has already confirmed eight of Trumps nine appellate nominees the most this early in a presidency since Richard Nixon and Trump will appoint plenty more before his first term expires. As former Clinton adviser Ronald A. Klain complained in The Post, the next two generations of Americans will live under laws interpreted by hundreds of [Trump-appointed] judges.
That alone is worth it. But there is more to be thankful for.....

Anyone who loves America is thankful the Wicked Witch is not any position of power.
How did this get into the WAPO?
bfl
I think you’ve got the wrong publication. The stool would never allow something like to be published.
I noticed the banner of the WAPO is DEMOCRACY DIES IN DARKNESS.
Seems prophetic.
It’s going to die in darkness, huh
Maybe all the execs are off on Thanksgiving Vacation.
Thiessen is the Post’s token conservative.
Pure democracy is mob rule.
It needs to die. In darkness and dispair.
I think John “Skippy” Podesta must be busy with something or other.
Well, the U.S. model is a representative republic, a kind of indirect democracy.
The real question that needs to be asked is, what guides the “demos” (people) of the democracy.
If those people can safely say, more often than not, “No king but Jesus” (as the original devout settlers could) then it’s going to work okay.
I’m not sure the founders anticipated what was going to happen when Christian awareness died out. They didn’t realize that their own circumstances had selected for those who were empowered by faith. But, God has no grandchildren. Evangelism kept it going for awhile, but that too died out to nominal levels.
It’s going to need a revival of some kind. A spark so big that it can’t be ignored. Or else the USA will slouch into nothingness.
Probably restructuring all his corporate interests.
I’m also not sure anyone, even our dear Democrats, have ever called for “pure democracy.”
A fair and mandatory plebiscite, should it be possible, probably would still underscore the more conservative elements of America.
What Democrats are calling “democracy” is more like poll stuffing.
How does this guy still write for Compost Sludge? Thiessen worked for Bush and Rumsfeld. I remember him being interviewed by that dastardly bitch Amanpour and reputing anything the witch said. A token truth teller saved by the retromingent jackass Bezos. Never shop at Whole Paycheck.
Missed an “f.” Refuting....Thank you....
We have a better version here called Central Market owned by HEB.
